Ambassador of Cuba receives Chinese decoration granted to Raúl Castro

The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, handed the Cuban Ambassador Miguel Ángel Ramírez the Medal of Friendship, awarded to the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, in Beijing today.

Ramírez received the distinction at a ceremony held at the Great People’s Palace in Beijing, where 41 other national and foreign figures were also recognized.

Raúl Castro is one of the six international honorees and his selection is considered a ratification of the excellent state of 59 years of uninterrupted relations between Cuba and China.

Raul deserves the friendship medal for the great contribution and support to the modernization of the socialist cause of the Asian country, promoting exchanges and bilateral cooperation, as well as for safeguarding world peace.
