Why Are C.E.O.s Bragging About Replacing Humans With A.I.? The Chilling Truth Behind Automation Kalimanie Follow 5 min read · Feb 2, 2025 -- 1 Listen Share
Let’s be real — automation was always going to happen. We all saw the signs. First, it was self-checkout machines replacing cashiers. Then came the chatbots handling customer service calls. Now, entire industries are being transformed, and shockingly, some C.E.O.s are actually bragging about it.
They’re not just automating jobs in the background. They’re making headlines, celebrating how A.I. is cutting costs and making companies “more efficient.” Meanwhile, millions of workers are losing their livelihoods. So the real question is: Why are these executives so eager to show off their role in the death of human jobs?
A.I. Takeover? Why C.E.O.s Bragging About Replacing Humans
The Numbers Don’t Lie: A.I. Is Replacing Jobs Faster Than Expected
I remember reading articles about A.I. taking over jobs years ago and thinking, Yeah, but that’s decades away. Turns out, I was wrong.
🔹 The World Economic Forum (WEF) predicts that 85 million jobs will be displaced by A.I. by 2026. That’s not a distant future — that’s now.
🔹 A McKinsey report estimates that by 2030, up to 800 million workers globally could be replaced by automation.
🔹 A Goldman Sachs study found that two-thirds of jobs in the U.S. and Europe are at risk of being automated.
At first, people believed that only low-skilled jobs were in danger. But now? White-collar workers are just as vulnerable.
Writers? A.I. can generate articles, marketing copy, and even code.
A.I. can generate articles, marketing copy, and even code. Lawyers? A.I. can review legal documents in seconds — work that once took junior attorneys hours.
A.I. can review legal documents in seconds — work that once took junior attorneys hours. Doctors? A.I. is already diagnosing diseases more accurately than human professionals.
And yet, instead of addressing the mass unemployment this could create, some C.E.O.s are celebrating it.
Why Are C.E.O.s Bragging About A.I. Taking Jobs?
At first, I thought maybe these executives were just out of touch — billionaires in boardrooms who didn’t understand the impact of their words. But after seeing how often they boast about job automation, it’s clear that this is intentional.
1️⃣ A.I. Makes Investors Happy
The brutal truth? A.I. boosts profits, and in the corporate world, that’s all that matters.
Companies don’t have to pay A.I. wages, healthcare, or vacation time.
A.I. works 24/7, never gets tired, and doesn’t go on strike.
Shareholders love it when companies cut costs, and replacing humans with A.I. is one of the fastest ways to do that.
2️⃣ Tech Leaders Want to Show Off Their Innovation
Take IBM, for example. They recently paused hiring for nearly 7,800 jobs, explicitly saying those roles would be replaced by A.I. Instead of keeping it quiet, they announced it — because in today’s business world, showing off how much automation you use makes you seem forward-thinking.
3️⃣ Some Just Don’t Care About the Human Cost
In 2023, a McDonald’s franchise tested a fully automated restaurant, eliminating human workers entirely. The company framed it as a “revolutionary innovation.” But for the thousands of fast-food workers barely making ends meet, it was a death sentence.
And it’s not just low-wage jobs — look at Tesla and SpaceX. Elon Musk has repeatedly said that A.I. will make most human jobs obsolete, all while leading companies that push automation forward.
The “New Jobs” Myth: Will Humans Really Adapt?
One argument I keep hearing is, “Sure, A.I. will take jobs, but it will create new ones too!”
Sounds nice, right? The problem is, this has never happened at this scale before.
Historically, when automation replaced jobs, it took decades for new industries to emerge. But A.I. is evolving at an exponential rate — faster than humans can retrain.
📌 A MIT study found that while automation will create some new roles (like A.I. engineers and ethicists), these jobs won’t replace the millions lost.
📌 The new jobs A.I. creates will require highly specialized skills — skills that most displaced workers don’t have.
📌 And let’s be honest: Not everyone can just “learn to code.” A truck driver who loses their job to A.I. can’t suddenly become a machine learning expert overnight.
So where does that leave millions of workers? Struggling to find jobs in an economy that doesn’t need them anymore.
The Harsh Reality: Some Jobs Are Never Coming Back
We like to believe that every technological revolution creates more opportunities in the long run. But let’s look at some industries that have already been permanently changed:
🚫 Retail workers: Amazon Go stores have eliminated cashiers entirely with checkout-free technology.
🚫 Journalists: A.I. can generate articles, sports summaries, and even opinion pieces in seconds.
🚫 Factory workers: Robots have already taken over most manufacturing jobs.
🚫 Financial analysts: A.I. can now analyze stocks and market trends faster and more accurately than human experts.
And it’s only going to get worse. Once a job is automated, it’s gone for good.
So, What Happens Next?
If we keep moving in this direction without any safeguards, we’re looking at a future where only the ultra-rich thrive. Millions of workers will be left jobless, while corporations enjoy record profits.
There are solutions, of course. Governments could introduce policies like universal basic income (UBI), stronger worker protections, or taxes on A.I.-driven automation. But right now? None of that is happening.
Instead, companies are racing to automate as quickly as possible, and workers are the last thing on their minds.
Final Thoughts: Is This the End of Human Jobs?
Look, I’m not anti-A.I. I use it every day, and I think it can do amazing things. But when C.E.O.s start celebrating the mass elimination of human workers as some kind of victory, we have a serious problem.
This isn’t just about technology replacing jobs — it’s about how we, as a society, choose to handle it.
Do we let corporations run wild, replacing humans with A.I. for profit?
Or do we step in and make sure people aren’t left behind in the process?
Right now, the people in power are choosing the first option — and if we don’t push back, the future of human jobs might already be decided.
💬 What do you think? Are we heading toward a jobless future, or is this just another shift in the workforce? Let’s talk in the comments.
