History has already shown that the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States will have devastating consequences for sexual and reproductive health and rights—and far beyond. Should his administration attempt to impose the dangerous Project 2025 agenda, it will unleash an all-out assault on rights and freedoms, using every lever of government—from attacks on abortion and contraception in the United States to reimposing the global gag rule and gutting US international family planning aid.

The Trump-Vance administration will take office less than three years after the Trump-appointed Supreme Court justices provided the deciding votes to overturn Roe v. Wade. Abortion is now banned in 13 states and highly restricted in many others, and those already marginalized by health care inequities are the people most severely harmed as a result. Guttmacher data show that more than one million abortions occurred in the United States in 2023, and the anti-abortion movement, with Trump and Vance’s support, are poised to ban every single abortion going forward.
