One person dead in Tazewell County after Hurricane Helene [1]

TAZEWELL CO., Va. (WDBJ) - The National Weather Service confirmed one person died in Tazewell County after Hurricane Helene.

NWS said the person killed was cleaning debris from the storm in a driveway and was hit by a large tree that fell.

The person’s age and gender have not been released; nor have specifics about when this happened. WDBJ7 will provide more details as they become available.

This marks the second death from Hurricane Helene in Southwest Virginia.
