Poll: Netanyahu Holds Slim Lead Over Gantz Despite Losing Knesset Majority [1]
[]
Date: 2024-09-09
A poll released on Monday by Channel 12 News shows that if elections were held today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition would only secure 49 seats out of the Knesset's 120, while the opposition would win 71.
Excluding the Arab parties, the opposition is projected to gain 61 seats. Likud would receive 22 seats, and Benny Gantz's National Unity Party would drop by one seat to 21.

The primary opposition parties have yet to confirm whether they will incorporate the two Arab parties into any potential future coalition, due to right-wing criticism and internal disagreements regarding political collaboration with certain factions within these parties.
The poll also showed that Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid would claim 15 seats, Yisrael Beiteinu 14, and the Democrats (Labor-Meretz) 11. Shas would receive 10 seats, Otzma Yehudit 9, and United Torah Judaism 8. Arab parties Hadash-Ta'al and Ra'am would each secure 5 seats.
The Religious Zionist Party, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the Arab party Balad, and the New Right led by Gideon Sa'ar fail to cross the electoral threshold.

In a scenario where former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett returns to politics, a party led by him would tie with Likud at 20 seats, while Gantz's party would drop to 13 and Yesh Atid to 11.
On leadership suitability, Netanyahu holds a slight advantage over Lapid and Gantz, with 29 percent and 28 percent support, respectively. However, Bennett leads with 39 percent support, compared to Netanyahu's 32 percent.
The survey, conducted by Midgam Consulting and Research and led by Mano Geva, polled 503 Israeli citizens aged 18 and over. It was conducted online and via phone with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.
