LMOGA Responds to Governor's Climate Taskforce [1]

As part of industry’s efforts to lead the way to climate solutions, LMOGA members have established a Carbon Committee to promote the advancement of carbon capture and underground storage (CCUS) technology. Together with the LSU Center for Energy Studies, OGCI and the Global CCS Institute, LMOGA recently hosted a CCUS workshop to facilitate an industry discussion around potential solutions and to help bring CCUS projects to Louisiana. Our industry is committed to improving air quality through the advancement of emerging technologies like CCUS, working together with industry and state agencies like the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources.

“As part of industry’s commitment to Louisiana’s environment and our coast, LMOGA supports the increased funding for coastal restoration and working together on collaborative solutions to continue moving our coast and our state forward,” said Gray. “Louisiana’s oil and gas revenues fund 34% of the State’s coastal restoration budget and we look forward to continuing to be part of the solution.”

In addition to revenues funding the state’s coastal master plan, LMOGA members have proactively funded and implemented several coastal restoration projects through collaboration with other nonprofit entities, such as Ducks Unlimited and America’s Wetland Foundation.

Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association, founded in 1923, is a trade association exclusively representing all sectors of the oil and gas industry operating in Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico.
