Statement: Humanity & Inclusion office in Gaza destroyed [1]

[]

Date: 2024-03

Humanity & Inclusion is devastated to share that our main office in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed in a bombing.

The exact circumstances surrounding this attack remain unknown. Right now, our organization’s top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and volunteers in Gaza. As far as we know, there were no HI staff present when the building was destroyed. We are still gathering information.

“There is no reason why a building for humanitarian staff should be destroyed,” says Jeff Meer, U.S. Executive Director for Humanity & Inclusion. “Humanitarian aid agencies, workers and volunteers are part of the vital structure keeping Palestinians alive.”

Since 1996, Humanity & Inclusion’s experts have been providing rehabilitation, mental health support, inclusive education and explosive ordnance risk education to people with disabilities and other populations in need in Palestine. Humanity & Inclusion staff and volunteers are currently working in more than 100 shelters for displaced people. Our teams are distributing wheelchairs and other mobility aids, organizing recreational activities for children, leading explosive ordnance risk education sessions and providing baby blankets, diapers and hygiene supplies to people in need.
