['Executive Director', 'Washington Legislative Office', 'Environment America', 'Vice President', 'D.C. Director', 'The Public Interest Network']
Date: 2024-03
On June 14th, the American Medical Association adopted two resolutions related to the use of gas in homes. The AMA resolved that cooking with a gas stove increases household air pollution and the risk of childhood asthma, in line with PIRG’s research on the harms of gas stoves. Another resolution noted the climate, health, and safety dangers of using hydrogen in the gas system. The resolution follows multiple studies linking gas stoves with global warming pollution and the development of respiratory illnesses, including asthma, in children.
