Manning, Smith Lead 210 Members in Bipartisan Letter Denouncing South Africa’s Claims Against Israel at International Court of Justice [1]

Washington, DC - Today, Representative Kathy Manning (NC-06), Vice Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Representative Chris Smith (NJ-04), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations, led a bipartisan group of 210 Members of Congress in sending a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken denouncing South Africa’s baseless case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which falsely charges Israel of committing genocide.

“South Africa makes grossly unfounded and defamatory charges against Israel on the world stage, abusing the judicial process in order to delegitimize the democratic State of Israel,” the Members wrote.



The Members continued, “We vigorously denounce South Africa’s deeply hostile stance towards Israel and thoroughly reject its charge of genocide. We urge you to continue to do the same, to offer Israel all appropriate support in opposing the South African application to the ICJ, and to encourage our allies to join us in speaking out against this unfounded attack on Israel, particularly at the United Nations and in other intergovernmental organizations.”
