It's Clear to Everyone Gazans Must Be Destroyed, Israeli Lawmaker Says [1]

Israeli lawmaker Moshe Saada from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party said on Tuesday that recent widespread calls to "destroy" the residents of the Gaza Strip affirm that the right-wing was right.

In an interview on pro-Netanyahu Channel 14, Saada said that even "in the kibbutzim they say, 'destroy them.' My friends at the prosecutor's office, who fought with me on political matters, in debates, tell me, 'Moshe, it is clear that all the Gazans need to be destroyed,' and these are statements I have never heard." This proves, he said, that the right-wing was correct just as it was on the Palestinian issue.

Saada's comments come in the wake of South Africa's petition to the International Court of Justice for an urgent order, declaring that Israel was in breach of its obligations under the Genocide Convention in its ongoing offensive against Hamas in Gaza.

South Africa's petition includes remarks by senior Israeli officials, from President Isaac Herzog to Minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu, which, according to South Africa, prove that Israel intends to commit genocide in Gaza.

In November, Far-right Eliyahu said that that dropping a nuclear weapon on the Gaza Strip is "an option."

Eliyahu, a member of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit party, maintained that "there are no non-combatants in Gaza." He was then asked, in light of his views, whether a nuclear attack on the Gaza Strip is an option. "That's one way," he responded.

In response, Ben-Gvir said that the Eliyahu was only speaking "metaphorically.

Adv. Michael Sfard, an expert in international law and human rights, has accused senior Israeli law enforcement officials of failing to act against extreme statements by senior Israeli politicians.

Even before the opening of the ICJ proceedings, on behalf of former public officials, Sfard and his associate asked Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Prosecutor Amit Eisman to act against ministers and MKs who called for ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Sfard says that "Israeli law enforcement officials' total abstention from dealing with the extensive daily incitement for the destruction of Gaza, wiping it out, dropping at atom bomb on it, is not just immoral, but illegal."

"It also confirms for many people in the world the allegation that Israel does intend to commit genocide," he added.
