#StopLNG Sit-in at Department of Energy in Washington, DC [1]
['Action Network']
Date: 2024-01
Join frontline leaders and national allies in three days of nonviolent civil disobedience at the Department of Energy to push Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of Energy to stop approving new Liquified Natural Gas terminals, including the CP2 project in Southwest Louisiana! Please sign up with our form and indicate if you are coming, which days you are looking to participate, and if you are willing to risk arrest. (Everyone is welcome to join and there will be a variety of roles for those who cannot risk arrest and want to participate with a different role!) Anyone who is engaging in civil disobedience should expect to attend a training the night before the action the following day. This is the largest fossil fuel buildout in the world and it's up to Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of Energy, to stop it.The fossil fuel industry is planning over 20 new LNG Export facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. These projects pollute our communities, drive up prices, and would emit as much pollution as over 850 coal fired power plants. Just one project, the CP2 facility, has 20x the emissions of the Willow Project! We're giving DOE and the Biden Administration until February to make the right call. If they do, we'll turn this action into a celebration and get back to work on the fight against fossil fuels. If they don't, we'll be there to show them they can't ignore community voices and the climate. Join us!If you would like to learn more about CP2 and LNG please take a look at this article
