Joe Biden Administration Approval Ratings and Hypothetical Voting Intention (8 December 2023) [1]

The latest research by Redfield & Wilton Strategies finds that 47% of Americans disapprove (+2) and 40% approve (+3) of President Joe Biden’s overall job performance as President. His net approval rating (-7%) is one point higher than in our previous poll conducted on 29 October.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ net approval rating stands at -8% (–). In our latest poll, 45% disapprove (+3) and 37% approve (+3) of Kamala Harris’ performance as Vice President.
The economy (59%), healthcare (32%), and immigration (30%) are the top three issues American voters say will determine how they vote in November next year.
The economy is the most-selected 2024 Election issue for both Donald Trump 2020 (66%) and Joe Biden 2020 (55%) voters. Other important election issues for Biden voters include healthcare (42%), abortion (39%), and the environment (34%), while 48% of Trump voters select immigration, 31% select government spending, and 23% select healthcare.
Our latest hypothetical voting intention finds Donald Trump leading Joe Biden by five points nationally, the largest lead Trump has recorded over Biden since 2 November 2022 (when it was also 5%).
After weighing by likelihood to vote, 43% (+3) say they would vote for Trump and 38% (–) of respondents say they would vote for Biden if they were candidates in 2024. 9% (-1) would vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while a further 7% (-3) say they don’t know how they would vote.
About three times as many Biden 2020 voters as Trump 2020 voters currently say they would vote for Kennedy (13% vs 4%). 87% (+3) of Trump 2020 voters say they would vote for Trump again in 2024, while 78% (+4) of Biden 2020 voters at the last election say they would now vote for Biden for re-election.
If Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the candidates for the two major parties in the next Presidential Election, 42% (+3) of Americans currently say they think Donald Trump would be more likely to win, while 37% (-1) think Joe Biden would be more likely to win. 12% (–) believe it would be a toss-up.
