Transportation Department denies special permit renewal intended for South Jersey export project
Today the Department of Transportation denied a special permit sought by New Fortress Energy to transport liquefied methane to a proposed gas export facility on the Delaware River in Gibbstown, New Jersey.
The denial of the permit renewal comes after years of community organizing to stop the dangerous fracked gas export scheme, which would see LNG bomb trains passing through a number of towns and cities across South Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania.
In response, Food & Water Watch New Jersey State Director Matt Smith issued the following statement:
