A Norfolk Southern train derailed overnight in western Pennsylvania.Nine railcars, out of more than 200, went off the tracks around midnight in New Castle, Lawrence County, along Montgomery Avenue near Lafayette Street, according to the New Castle Fire Department.None of the cars were carrying hazardous materials, according to fire officials.Paraffin wax, commonly used in making candles, as well as salt, spilled during the derailment. The fire department says those substances are not considered hazardous.Early Thursday morning, Norfolk Southern provided a statement to WGAL's sister station, Pittsburgh's Action News 4, writing in part, "...nine cars derailed outside of New Castle, PA. There were no hazardous materials involved, and no injuries have been reported.
