The United States Postal Service is a beloved American institution that helps bind the nation by delivering universal service at reasonable rates to nearly 160 million addresses, no matter how remote. Older than our nation itself, this public service continues to play a vital role in supporting public health and economic stability. And yet the Postal Service is also under threat and at risk of reduced services, job cuts, and privatization. Our research and writing explores what’s at stake in the Postal Service debate for workers, businesses, and communities across the country.
