Child Care Sector Jobs [1]

CSCCE provides ongoing analysis of national and regional child care job numbers. Check back each month for updates.

The child care sector continues an upwards trend as 7,100 jobs were added last month. Nonetheless, employment in the sector continues to lag behind overall employment.

After adjusting for this month’s annual BLS update to the data, child care employment today is 5.5% below what it was in February 2020.

Child care job numbers from selected states and metro areas continue to reflect varied conditions across communities.

New Jersey continues to exceed pre-pandemic employment numbers. California remained fairly steady, while Massachusetts saw a small uptick and New York experienced substantial gain. Texas, meanwhile, experienced a small decrease in employment numbers.
