When this central Idaho dam fails, it'll wipe out the town downstream, but funding is hard to come by [1]

The Mackay Dam in central Idaho is a mess. The dam is old, poorly maintained, and designed with an inadequate understanding of the geology upon which it sits. This is terrible news as a small town, and a nuclear waste dump are just waiting to be flooded out.

Sadly, funding to fix this dam seems damn hard to come by.
