A valiant attempt to save an air conditioner

Two men standing on the roof of a building are pulling up an air conditioner attached to tow lengths of rope. When one of the plastic straps around the air conditioner snaps, the men desperately try to save the air conditioner. But had they been successful, we wouldn't be watching this video, would we?

Haven't we all found ourselves in this situation at one time or another, at least metaphorically?
