Is Kanye West actually Ziggy Stardust? A TikTok-er explores the secrets of the Bowie song.
2021-09-10 00:00:00
In "Five Years," the final song on the seminal sci-fi rock opera The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, David Bowie sings of the coming destruction that will ravage the Earth in five years time. He describes visions of "Your face, your race, the way that you talk," and tells a story of a Black man with a Cadillac who confronts a girl on the verge of a violent mental breakdown.
On the cover of the album, Bowie stands beneath a sign that says, "K. West."
"Five Years" was released as a single on the same day the full Ziggy Stardust album was released—June 16, 1972.
Almost five years later to day—June 8, 1977, to be precise—Kanye West.
James McCrae, author of Sh#t Your Ego Says: Strategies to Overthrow Your Ego and Become the Hero of Your Story, explores this radical new conspiracy theory on TikTok.
