Insomnia is one of the evil villains in this new Netflix post-apocalyptic thriller

As far as movies I need to see, Awake checks all the boxes for me, including: 1) Starting off in a "normal" world that quickly falls into a post-apocolytic one √. 2) A run-for-your-life thriller in which the protagonist is trying to outrun the mass hysteria (sometimes in the form of hive-mind) that is taking over √. 3) A dystopian world in which the evil force affects one of our senses, or in this case, our sleep √. (Being an insomniac myself, I loved the forced insomnia component to hive-mind thriller Invasion of the Body Snatchers).

Starring Gina Rodriguez, Shamier Anderson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and 13-year-old Ariana Greenblatt, the Netflix movie will premiere on June 9.
