                         For a quick overview of the levels shown in the GIF
                         files, see the bottom of the file.

Description             : A WAD file containing 6 new DeathMatch levels plus
                         music and graphics.  Each level was designed with
                         a specific theme in mind, and is very detailed.
                         I tried to make them at least as good as the
                         Bloodlands/Grievance levels.

                         Three previous versions, v1.2, v1.3 and v1.4 are
                         available.  If you have one of these, delete it.

                         I know you're probably getting tired of downloading
                         versions of Realms of Pain (I'm certainly getting
                         tired of making them), but there were several
                         errors in the 3rd and 5th maps due to a rushed
                         download.  I've learned that some of my corridors
                         are a bit cramped, so I've made some changes to
                         the 2nd, 3rd and 4th maps.  I've also enhanced
                         the weapons placement on most maps as some people
                         complained that there were too many.

                         A few more new textures, a new title screen +
                         music, new text screen screen music, all by me.

                         This WILL be the last version of Realms of Pain
                         Part 1 by me. . . If there are any more bugs,
                         don't tell me.  I'll probably commit suicide <g>.

                         As a bonus, I've included a new level, which I
                         recently fished out from by massive pile of backup
                         disks and went over and radically enhanced.

                         Difficulty settings change the weapons :
                         Skill 1 : Double ammo, no Plasma or BFG
                         Skill 2 : Normal ammo, no Plasma or BFG
                         Skill 3 : Set up for -Altdeath (respawning stuff)
                         Skill 4 : Normal ammo, all weapons
                         Skill 5 : Double ammo, all weapons

Other files by authors  : I haven't heard anything from TNT, so I'll just go
                         ahead and make a Realms of Pain Part 2.  I've
                         included some GIFs of the first three levels.

                         Check out the Mission : DooM preview, MssnPrv.ZIP,
                         available in the CIS Action Games Forum.  Sorry
                         about not uploading to FTP.CDROM.COM (I forgot).
                         I'll release a two level preview sometime to
                         apologise ;)

Misc. Author Info       : I've been making levels for a while now, but have
                         never released them as I haven't had access to the
                         internet until recently.

                         I'm still busy making levels, and hope to make
                         Realms of Pain a full 32 level episode someday.
                         I'd really appreciate a co-author or two though.

                         Alternatively, if you want to hire me for a
                         project, I'm all yours ;)

                         In case you're wondering why I seem to be releasing
                         WADs so often, I'm currently unemployed.  When I
                         get a job (soon?) my levels will come out a bit more
                         slowly.  But not TOO slowly ;)

                         The Realms of Pain and Mission : Doom series might
                         be delayed awhile.  Looks like I've been chosen
                         for a couple of projects. . .

                         Level : 01
                         Name : Abattoir
                         Description : This place contains plenty of blood.
                         A main room contains four teleporters that'll take
                         you around the level.
                         Weapons : 5 Shotguns, 2 Super Shotguns, 3
                         Chainguns, 1 Rocket Launcher, 1 Chainsaw, 1 BFG

                         Level : 02
                         Name : Cursed Halls
                         Description : A small main hall with corridors all
                         around.  The BFG is in plain view, but how can you
                         get at it?
                         Weapons : 2 Shotguns, 1 Super Shotgun,
                         2 Chainguns, 1 Rocket Launcher, 1 Plasma Gun,
                         1 Chainsaw, 1 BFG

                         Level : 03
                         Name : Mineshaft
                         Description : A beautifully detailed level
                         originally inspired by Dennis Moeller's DooM
                         conversion of one of the Quake Test levels.  Its
                         not too similar though.
                         Weapons : 2 Shotguns, 1 Super Shotgun,
                         2 Chainguns, 1 Rocket Launcher, 1 Plasma Gun,
                         1 Chainsaw

                         Level : 04
                         Name : House of Death
                         Description : A tribute to the fantastic Unreal,
                         Grievance Map 01 by Charles Cox.
                         Weapons : 3 Shotguns, 2 Super Shotguns,
                         3 Chainguns, 1 Rocket Launcher, 1 Plasma Gun,
                         1 Chainsaw, 1 BFG

                         Level : 05
                         Name : Stronghold
                         Description : A small building with several
                         tunnels.  A good level for snipers.
                         Weapons : 2 Shotguns, 2 Super Shotguns,
                         2 Chainguns, 2 Rocket Launcher, 1 Plasma Gun,
                         1 Chainsaw

                         Level : 06 (new in v1.5)
                         Name : The Catacombs
                         Description : Includes a torture chamber complete
                         with chainsaw! This level is actually the oldest
                         of the six, and has gone through four different
                         different design stages over about a year.  Parts
                         of it are inspired by Map 05 Matthew Dixon's Amber
                         Extreme.  This is also the largest level.
                         Weapons : 3 Shotguns, 2 Super Shotguns,
                         2 Chainguns, 2 Rocket Launcher, 1 Plasma Gun,
                         1 BFG, 1 Chainsaw

                         originally inspired me to make Realms of Pain.

* Realms of Pain Part 2 GIF files *

RPPrv1.GIF - Abandoned Temple

Completely different than my other levels.  There is a lot of green, gothic
style textures everywhere.  The place has been abandoned for sometime, so
its starting to fall apart. . .

RPPrv2.GIF - Oubliette

This a small sewer system.  Don't worry though, it doesn't have a lot of that
useless green brick sewer texture everywhere.  These are the Realms of Pain
sewers, after all. . .

RPPrv3.GIF - Unholy Shrine

An arena style level.  A BFG lies in the shrine as an offering to the dark
gods, and they get angry when someone steals it. . .
