Description : Professor Sylvester, occult sociologist, trembled as he approached Josiah Compton's mansion. He had heard the stories of Reverend Compton's new "church," how they said that purifying this world would take a lot more than outlawing liquor. It would be a most interesting case study, the Professor thought, for his monograph on religious innovation. But this bit of fieldwork was not without certain risks...
Wayward Puritans is a spooky, survival horror-inspired single level for the Doom 2 IWAD, with an ending map in MAP02. Explore a creepy mansion, uncover the secrets of an ancient cult, and fight for your sanity against forces more terrible than social science can theorize!
Taking inspiration from Resident Evil 1 and cosmic horror, combat has been extensively retooled, so be prepared to make due with more meager resources than your usual Doom map. HMP has identical enemy placement but more health, powerups, and ammo, so play on this setting if you're more adverse towards scrounging. For the ultimate survival horror challenge, try playing in stroller mode (no run) with the custom included status bar, which hides your overall ammo counts (stroller mode not necessarily recommended for first pl?ay!).
Play in any limit-removing port, though Crispy, DSDA-Doom (-cl2), Eternity (-vanilla), and ZDoom have been tested most extensively

* Construction *
Base : New from scratch
Build Time : One week for mapping, the resource pack was something I was aimlessly dicking around with for a year or more
Editor(s) used : Ulimate Doom Builder, Slade, WhackEd, ChocoRenderlimits
May Not Run With : Some mods, probably. MAP01 depends on the boss executing KeenDie for progression; changing these monsters may break the maps. One secret depends on a custom actor activating a line special via a monster walkover line.
Tested With : DSDA (-complevel 2), Crispy Doom, Eternity (-vanilla), ZDoom 2.8.1, GZDoom
Tested by : my bandmate Robert. Also credits to people who made videos or posted demos after its initial release - BugoTheCat aka optimus, Matt Eldrydge, Mancubian Candidate, Oxyde, TheShep, Zahid
Known Bugs : none
