Title : Sign of Torment
Version : 3.2 FINAL
Filename : SOTv32.zip
Release date : (v3.2) December 2021
Author : Kain D.
Email Address : [redacted]
Description :
Sign of Torment is unique in comparison to mainstream wads, so it might be something that was never done before.
It utilizes features not commonly used in Boom maps, like silent teleports, friction, or jumppads.
The wad follows usage of red, white and black colors through episodes. To put simply the main theme color in Episode 1 is red, in Episode 2 is white,
and in Episode 3 is black.
In comparison to Doom 2 the story is more important(in a way it's Doom 2 continuation). Jumping/crouching should be disabled.
Because of the features playing with freelook enabled is more comfortable. Playing continously is encouraged(this is only story related),
but maps can be also completed from pistol start.
Difficulty is a mix of Doom 2 and Plutonia.
Story:
After? a long battle with Hell, Earth is rebuilt and the UAC has reclaimed its position as a powerful corporation.?
Unbeknown to others, the UAC begins research at the edge of a flying Deimos base in Hell, sending expeditions from time to time.
Gained knowledge allows the corporation to conquer alien planets outside the solar system.
Years have passed and the UAC has become a superpower no one can oppose, erasing all of its involvement in the first Hell invasion.
New discoveries could allow the corporation intergalactic travel, however, contact was lost with the latest expedition.
The UAC, afraid of losing precious data and not wanting to risk any resources, decides to send prisoners.
You, prisoner 649, have been sentenced to death. You are offered a deal to find out what happned to the expedition and collect the desired data in exchange for your life.?
You're given the device to track their signal and without any choice
YOU DESCEND INTO HELL...

* Construction *
Base : New from scratch
Build Time : ~2 years 3 months
Editor(s) used : Doom Builder 2, Doom Builder X, Slade 3, Whacked 4, Bitmap Font Writer
Known Bugs : Friction effect will not work if you load them from a save in Glboom+/PrBoom+(complevel 9), use -complevel 11 to avoid issues,
or play with default compability.(Only maps 13,16 use this effect as an important feature),
Maps 11,14,17,19,26,28,31 cannot be completed with -nomonsters,
Projectiles like fireballs and plasma projectiles are not visible in all white areas in Gzdoom and Risen3D,
{In Gzdoom you can change Classic Transparency to anything else than Zdoom (Forced)}
White colormap in Ep2 underwater areas doesn't work in Gzdoom (hardware renderer),
Some switches(linedef 210) have no sound in Gzdoom and Glboom+,PrBoom+(default compability),
(They have sound in Glboom+,PrBoom+ with default compability when "Retain quirks in Doom's sound code" is set to yes)
100% secrets in Maps 22, 27 are impossible in Gzdoom
Risen3D ends level during fight in "BROKEN" area in Map 22(HMP, UV difficulty)
Some flats will be messed up, if you load a save(PrBoom+, GLboom+) Maps 25, 26, 28
Translucent flats don't work properly in Gzdoom (hardware renderer) and Risen3D Map 27
May Not Run With : Non-Boom compatible source ports, gameplay mods
Tested With : Gzdoom 4.7.1.0 , Risen3D 2.2.34 , GlBoom+ 2.5.1.4 (complevel 9), PrBoom+ 2.5.1.4 (complevel 9)
Port Differences : The wad uses MAPINFO for episode selection and story screens,
The Maps 14,15 are more difficult with infinitely tall monsters,
Because friction and wind effect work differently in Gzdoom, some areas are easier in this sourceport,
