IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII( DOOM 1 PATCH WAD DESCRIPTION FILE )IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Title                   : "Underground Maelstrom"
Filename                : UNDERG.WAD
Author(s)               : SiNGE (Nick Bousman)
                         (With help from Fimm)
Email Address           : [email protected]
Misc. Author Info       : Fearless Leader of Vectorscope Software
Date Released           : 8/7/95

Description             : This level really kicks ass. It's a bit HUGE though.
Even if you know what you're doing, it probably
would take a good hour or so to complete. PLEASE
PLEASE try it the first time WITHOUT the Doom
cheaty codes. We dare ya to. And remember, SAVE
OFTEN! ;D BTW, it seems more people have DOOM2 than
DOOM, so many of you will be converting this over
to DOOM2. But TRY at least once, to play it in it's
original DOOM format. But really, this level is,
although made by myself, one of my favorites
(especially in multi-player mode). I had a lot of
                         fun making this level.

Setting                 : Your mission is as follows - You have been hired to
(SUGGESTED READING!)   take out a strategic enemy base. Due to government
cutbacks, you are the only one we could afford to
hire. Plus, we can only equip you with a pistol for
your mission (again, government cutbacks!). We'll
transport you down to the front of the base. Once
you've been spotted, the base's security system
will be activated. Get through the entrance and
take the elevator to the central core of the base
(underground of course!). You must proceed through
the base until you can find the enemy's Cyberdemon
leader. There will be a series of seven bulkheads
blocking the way to the Cyberdemon's domain. Each
Notice the fun AAA?     one can be activated by lowering an eyeball-like
happy Vectorscope  3     switch. Once all seven have been lowered, you can
logo on the beacon!3     proceed to go in and take out the Cyberdemon. There
_3_         3     is also rumored to be a "viewing" room where you can
(_?_)        3     see your progress of lowering the bulkheads. Once
(_?_)        3     you have obliterated the Cyberdemon, take the
(_?_)        3     elevator back to the surface, activate the homing
3          AAAA> beacon we have set out for you, and you'll be
                         transported back to the ship.

Kwai Chang Caine of Urbanite BBS
(Again for testing. I was too lazy to fix that
                           oddity with the pillars, heh.)
Those wonderful guys at ID who made DOOM in the
                           first place.
Whoever wrote WALLS2.WAD (I ripped a few sounds
                           from it, thanx ;)
                         Justin Fisher (Author of the A L I E N S patches.
Again, for the wonderful sounds I ripped.)
BTW, I LOVED your aliens patch, and I too enjoy
WADs with fun effects and interesting architecture
as opposed to simple rooms connected with doors.
If you get to see this WAD and like it, please
                           drop a line. ;)......heh

A Play Information AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Episode and Level #     : E1M1
Single Player           : Yup (What it's meant for)
Cooperative 2-4 Player  : Yup (Tho some hallways and elevators are only big
enuff for 1 person, it's really fun to play
like this. It will take quite a while to
complete tho. Our testers took 2 hours.)
Deathmatch 2-4 Player   : Yes (But it's a VERY big level. You'll probably
rarely see each other. But I DID add lotsa
weapons and soulspheres in DeathMatch to keep
everyone on their toes just in case ya wanna
                              try it.)
Difficulty Settings     : All difficulty settings are implemented.
New Sounds              : Yup
New Graphics            : Just a couple of things (Namely, two).
New Music               : Um, I was gonna, but all the MIDI's I had lying
                         around sucked.
Demos Replaced          : None

A Construction AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Base                    : New level from scratch
Editor(s) used          : WADED 1.42 (Ok, Mr. Aryes, I'll register if you
fix all the really annoying bugs.)
                         DMAUD 1.1 (Awesome program)
                         DMGRAPH   (Also quite spiffy)
Known Bugs              : If you're using nice versions of DOOM like 1.666+,
no. Otherwise there's sometimes weird flashes when
passing between tall sectors, and sometimes strange
HOM effects when theres over 16 2-sided linedefs
                         in view.
Time                    : About a month or so. Lots of testing.
                         Lots of node-building.

A Misc. Stuff AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Vectorscope also makes cool games, MODs, ANSi, GIFs, and
other spiffy stuff. Look around for some of our other products.
Check the CATALOG.DOC that SHOULD have come with the WAD to see
examples of our other projects. And if you liked this WAD, try getting
my other WAD, ENIGMA.WAD. BTW, one of our other members, CyberMan Gold
is working on a couple of Doom 2 PWADs. They'll kick. I'm also planning
to make some Doom 2 DeathMatch PWADs. Look around for them, they'll
      also be cool.
