The Ultimate Doom LMP collection, version 3.1
---------------------------------------------
By Yonatan Donner
What's new in version 3.1
-------------------------
Now *all* of the demos have been rerecorded. No demo here was also in
version 1.0. I rerecorded all of the episode 4 levels, and they weren't hard
at all...
In addition e4m1 has been rerecorded *again* since the previous version
didn't playback correctly - I changed the gamma correction value while
recording. A mistake I did now for the second time. This one, however, does
playback and I do get 100% secrets as well.
UDM1FULL.ZIP
------------
This is a collection of LMPs for the entire Doom 1 game, all 4 episodes
including episode 4 - Thy Flesh Consumed.
In each LMP I start the level in warp conditions - a pistol with 50 bullets,
100% health and no armor. All of the demos are finished with 100% kills and
almost all (most) of them are also finished with 100% secrets. Who cares
about the items?
I hope you'll enjoy watching them. If you're a beginner, to watch the LMPs
you need to type:
DOOM -PLAYDEMO YDExMy
When:
x = the episode number
y = the map number
For example, to watch my LMP for E2M4 (now finished quickly!), type:
DOOM -PLAYDEMO YDE2M4
The LMPs have to be in the Doom directory, and yes, you must have the
registered version!!
Here are comments about the levels:
E1M1: This is a very easy level. The time is 0:38, quite quick I think!
E1M2: A nice level, but the dark maze ruins the fun.
E1M3: A very good level and it's also fun to play. The secret exit of episode
1 is here.
E1M4: Another maze-ruined level.
E1M5: A very fun level!
E1M6: A maze-infested level, but it could have been wonderful without it.
E1M7: An awesome level! Wonderfully built, a great great fun.
E1M8: The boss joke level. Still, it's fun killing those barons with the
shotgun. I didn't get hit at all through the entire level until the end.
E1M9: Nice, cute, and really not difficult though many people think it is
(why??). I did it quickly and just for fun I jumped on all the columns in
the secret in one try without falling. Wow, really hard ;-)
E2M1: A very nice beginning for episode 2. I did it very very quickly.
E2M2: This is the first level in Doom that is *really* bad. It is so long and
boring! Very easy to get lost among all those crates.
E2M3: This level is ok, but I don't like it too much.
E2M4: It's just another ugly episode 2 level.
E2M5: This is perhaps the most ugly level in Doom. Don't these guys at id
know how to build levels? ;-)
E2M6: This is the main competition to E2M5 in ugliness. Yuck. The entire level
looks the same and it is just so boring!
E2M7: This level is fine, though I don't love it. Using the berserk to kill
big monsters saves a lot of ammo, and I have no idea why I saved that
ammo (boredom?) Naah, I'm just an ammohoarder ;-)
E2M8: I killed all lost souls even though I didn't have to. The cyberdemon is
so easy to kill! Nothing to be afraid of.
E2M9: This is a nice level with a nice idea. After you get them fighting, you
have to kill 1 or 2 remaining monsters and you're done with the level.
E3M1: This level is fine, a nice episode beginning. Ammo problem? Naah. The
demo is with 100% kills and secrets and yet under the "par" time!
E3M2: I don't like this level very much. All rocky with 5 or so points of
interest.
E3M3: This level is fine, especially since it has the first BFG9000 in the
game! Unfortunately nobody to use it on...
E3M4: Yuck! Long, boring, ugly, what else can be bad about a level?
E3M5: What did I just say? Oh, yeah. Yuck! Long, boring, ugly, what else can be
bad about a level?
E3M6: This level is ok. It is easy to get lost, though.
E3M7: I don't like it very much, but it's too short for me to complain.
E3M8: This level, as an ending to the whole game, is nothing more than "cute".
I killed the big spider mommy with a pistol!
E3M9: The cyberdemon is a bit of a surprise here, isn't it? Other than that
the level is too easy.
E4M1: This is the most unfriendly episode beginning that I know of. There isn't
enough ammo to make you comfortable, and the worst thing is that there
isn't any health in the level! Other than 9% of health potions there is
absolutely no health in the entire level! Not even a stimpak! However
if you're careful it's not very difficult.
E4M2: A wonderful level, very fun, quite tough with -fast...
E4M3: Very easy level, tons of health and ammo and weak enemies.
E4M4: This should have been the episode 4 beginning. Nice, short and easy.
E4M5: Another level which is not too long and not too difficult and easy on
ammo.
E4M6: I still got confused here a bit (in the end), but the level is
wonderful and I'll forgive it even though it's very hard to find your
way through it.
E4M7: Very nice, very easy level, max secrets here is 50%.
E4M8: This is a very large level for the last in the game...It is as large as
a normal level, but not difficult. Nice ending text though.
E4M9: Another great and easy level.
