Comments                : Incubus always produces exciting
demos - that's a plus.  However, incubus depends to a large
degree on luck - that's a minus.  Don't get me wrong, I'm
not saying those who have an incubus title are "lucky" (look
at the names of those folks - dare I say "doomgods"?).  But
I think a title such as tyson involves a greater degree of
doom skill.

Map 15 - Rini's route (d2i6sru.zip) looked good to me, so I
gave it a shot.  Worked out well - 2:03 on a PAR of 3:30.
This wasn't really easy (nothing in nightmare is "easy"),
but it took me less than 15 tries to get this.  "But if he
didn't have any sound, how did he know the switch had been
tripped when he was down there in the slime?"  Well, I
didn't, but I practiced this route with -nomonsters so I
knew the approximate position that would trip the switch.
Actually, when you play this back on a machine with sound,
you have to listen pretty closely to hear the switch anyway,
what with all the racket of chaingunners and shotgun
charlies hammering my ass.  Time: 2:03 - PAR 3:30.  Minimum
Health:  21% - exit with 94% health, 28% kills.

Map 30 - I cringed when I saw I had drawn this map.  I did
it for my velox exam, but as I noted in that exam, I haven't
played this map much and it had always given me trouble when
I had.    Again, the lack of sound was a handicap, as I had
little idea if my rockets were hitting home.  The lack of
sound on my P166 is more than compensated by the greater fps
- I can do things on this computer that I can achieve only
with great difficulty on my 486 DX2 66 with sound.  This
map, more than any other, shows the role of luck in incubus.
If a pain elemental showed up, I could pretty much just
press the `q' key because there was no way I was going to
survive long enough to send in three rockets.  As it turned
out, this took less than 20 attempts.  Time: 1:46 - PAR 3:00
Minimum Health:  77% - exit with 145% health, 1100% kills.

Map 11 - This was hard all right, but it's probably one of
the easier hard maps.  Still, it took me a couple of days of
concerted effort - not as much as map 24 pacifist, and no
where near as much as e1m7 incubus.  I tried various routes,
all of which worked to some extent.  I like this one, even
though about 40% of the time a skull comes up behind you and
chews your ass into little tiny pieces, because the cacos
don't come out and block your way into the arch ville room.
Going the other way gets you into the soul sphere room
quicker and perhaps more reliably - see some of the other
incubus map 11 demos to see how that goes.  I got the plasma
rifle several times, but it often cost me more than it was
worth.  What was highly frustrating was to get the
invulnerability and then get blocked or fall off the
platform or some other dumb-ass event.  There are lots of
ways to die in this map....I completed the level, then did the dance at the beginning of Map 12, killed several
shotgunners and then died facing a mancubus.  Time: 2:35 -
PAR 3:30. Minimum Health:  57% - exit with 63% health, 74%
kills.

Free - Hmmm...should I do Map 04?  NAAHHHH!  Ok, map 18 is
EASY, but I thought it would be a good map to do according
to 3 styles - incubus, pacifist and velox.  I've done it
pacifist in 47 seconds, and I did it for my yagyu exam
(d2y6met.zip).  Doing it pacifist style in incubus mode is a
tad more difficult, as monsters tend to get in your way.
Fortunately, other monsters helped me out.  I found it
necessary to get the invulnerability in order to survive the
blue key room, something you don't need to do in
Ultraviolence.  Time: 1:28 - PAR 2:30. Minimum Health:  55%
- exit with 89% health, 32% kills.
