Comments                : The reason I finish this exam that late is that I
had no idea what to play. Poeppy said: "was kannst
du denn besonders gut oder was macht dir spass?"
(translation: is there something you can do
especially well, or that you like?)
OK, there is nothing I can do especially well, but
I really like -RESPAWN 100%/100%, so I did this ...

free: "Halls Of The Damned"   (e2m6-uvr.lmp)
I selected this map, because I thought it's
quite hard with respawning monsters (you have
to pass several places twice). I found that
it's very important to take the right route,
otherwise the level is completely crowded with
demons, cacos and barons and you are trapped
                               with rapidly decreasing ammo ...
The route I play contains one critical place
too, the return from the red_key/plasma_gun
area is normally blocked by the baron and
some demons. If you're lucky, you may pass
the baron without wasting any cells.
I took this recording, because it shows how it
looks like if you don't have that luck ...

Btw: I thought for DHT it is appropriate not
only to play for 100% kill and secrets, but as
an additional complication to visit every room.

                         e1m4: "Command Control"       (e1m4-uv.lmp)
                               Nice and easy level.

                         e2m4: "Deimos Lab"            (e2m4-uv.lmp)
This was my favorite in early '94. It's the
first one where barons are normal monsters and
not "the boss". The textures are brilliant
placed with the satanic symbol announcing the
first baron. I missed this tense athmosphere
in all maps I've played afterwards - but this
is mainly due to the fact, that there is only
                               ONE "first time".
In this recording I play it quite conventional,
                               maybe a little bit risky.

                         e3m3: "Pandemonium"           (e3m3-uv.lmp)
Nice map. The dance is at the blue_key_card.

Author info             :
My first contact with DooM was end of december '93.
In early '94 I started to play episode 3 and couldn't
make the first level. Therefore I redefined the [RUN]
key and always kept it pressed. Episode 3 became
doable. End of '94 I started to play DooM 2 and did
all maps from scratch except 29 and 30.
December '96 I started to play again and made ALL
DooM and DooM 2 levels from scratch (now including
29 and 30). Then I competed with poeppy for the
fastes times in DooM2 and this led us to COMPET-N
as we managed to beat the old time in level 18.
Then I recogniced to be too slow and thought that
using seperate strafe keys would help - but .....

Btw: I hate aggresion and violence -
in the real world (the one without pixels, you know?)

Credits                 :
Cretits have to go to Frank for all the work he has
put in the DHT and especially for the new DHT6
concept, to Simon Widlake for COMPET-N and to
Poeppy who is always a great help
(except for always beating my COMPET-N records ;-).
