Free Interpretation: MAP24-UV Tyson Rules (Easy)
If this MAP was not designed with Tyson in mind it works out that
way. There are loads of powerups and ammo with nothing tougher to
kill than Cacodemons or Hell Knights. One Mancubus usually gets
killed by Hell Knights and the IV Sphere can take care of the one
left. The most dangerous thing to deal with is falling into a pit
with no exit. When everything went quiet, there was a Bezerk Pack,
Mega Sphere, IV Sphere maybe 6 Stimppacks, and at least three
Radiation Suits on the ground (picked up the Mega Sphere to finish
200% 200%). Also a person can be as cautious or daring as they like.
Nabbing the first Bezerk Pack, and getting off the ledges before the
Lost Souls catch up (in the next to last room) may be the only
critical movements. But it did take some time to finish off 167
monsters.

Comments: My D1M exam had lots of punching so getting Tysons seemed
natural. For the most part, D1T was (except E1M5 perhaps). But
when I started work on this .... BUMMER DUDE. I prayed that I
would not get the dreaded MAP06. But I KNEW it was coming, and
it arrived just as expected. So work started on MAP02 in an
effort to delay the inevitable. Trouble is, MAP02 was nasty as
hell. For me, in Tyson, those guys with shotguns make a MAP hard
(without an equalizer like a Bezerk Pack or Chainsaw).
MAP24 is not really easy, but based on the level set I received,
that is where it belongs. MAP06 is so mind bogglingly hard and
MAP02 so hard that I think the base set needs some adjustment.
If MAP06 is removed MAP22 would fill in nicely and MAP24 could go
to the medium set.
Expansion Level: MAP22 (Medium)
Like MAP06, this MAP requires some luck, only a great deal less,
since the MAP features loads of ammo, a Bezerk Pack and very few
monsters to kill. About half of MAP06 numerically, much less in
real terms since Chaingunners kill each other, and others, with such
abandon.
If you want to do this MAP there is sort of a trick to getting the
Baron on the lift. The trick is to wait about 3.5 seconds to run
past Baron into corner and wait 2 seconds to lower the elevator.
Use iddt to practice and make adjustments in counts and movements.
The Baron should walk to the lift, turn left, walk across, and turn
left again before walking off; hopefully the lift goes back up
during that sequence.

MAP02
I cast my vote with Alvin "Viper" Chee on this one, no way MAP01 and
MAP02 should both be EASY. Its kind of a moot point though, anyone
with any chance of finishing a D2T could do MAP02. Still ... MAP24
went in the easy set because MAP02 is so hard.

MAP05
Getting the Bezerk pack is the key to finishing this. But once it
was in hand, I was kind of lost as to what should come next. So
there is some wandering around and pauses in this LMP but I kept it
because the punching is pretty solid for most of it (for me).

MAP06
If everything dropped dead at the start of MAP06, picking up all the
ammo would leave a person at the exit with 190 bullets. (I used
iddqd & idbehold S to smash/plazma rifle/shotgun the MAP)
According to the FAQ, it takes 1227 bullets to finish using only
bullets, with no missed shots. To make matters really bleak, this
MAP has no Bezerk Packs or Chainsaw.
WARNING!!! If you want to do this MAP, there seems to be a bug in
THE MOST the MAP near the Red Door. The display will jitter and
DANGEROUS lock when strafing in and out of the door using the
THING ON mouse. I have never had this problem using weapons.
THIS LEVEL But it happened, three times on two machines before I
IS: figured it out. The really depressing thing was that
the only way to recover (that I found) was to reboot,
THE RED DOOR!! losing the evidence of making it even to the Red Door.
My solution, remember to use the keyboard strafe keys
(ONLY!) near the Red Door.
To finish this level takes (more than anything else) four things;
luck in the Mastermind room; luck in the Revenant room; luck in
getting Hell Knights to kill Revenants; and luck in the final room.
Did I mention that you have to be lucky punching out all the Imps in
between? Luck, Luck, Luck, Luck, Lucky, is that four?

Author info: First and FOREMOST, if you have not downloaded and viewed
Steffen Winterfeldt's D1S-SW.ZIP, stop reading this and go do
it NOW! I started remapping my keyboard and working on
figuring out how to do some of the things he was doing after
seeing DOOM2NM.ZIP. But his D1S lmps are even more stunning,
absolutely brilliant work.
This is the fourth title that I have worked on and I have
learned a tremendous amount in the effort. The same has
always been true for any competitive endeavor from USPSA to
USCF. I remember the first time I saw Doom running, it was
E1M2 in the computer room. The lighting and textures blew me
away and I had not seen shooting or monsters yet. Just the
sense of light and movement was a tremendous rush. No game
has captured me the way Doom has and I have to give the id

Job well done, Thanks.
Special thanks to Dave Taylor for Linux port. "woody" may be
