Free interpretation : Map 1 with fast monsters using only the chainsaw.
I take on the bunch of imps outside in the
courtyard all at once in a swirling melee.
Comments : Maps 3 and 14 were very easy and a little boring.
There isn't even a chainsaw in either one to
spice things up a little! In case you haven't
noticed, the chainsaw is my favourite weapon...
Map 29 was a real bitch, and so I didn't do a
super-hard free. It took me a few tries just to
get the beginning strategy down. Once you get
plasma gun things get a little easier. Still
hard enough that I had to resort to that most
hated of tactics: sniping (sorry). After a 15
minute life-and-death struggle I make it to the
end, only to circle-strafe right into the exit
when fighting the cyberdemon. Twice. AARGGGH!
I had to resort to another strategy to kill him
(hey, at least I did rather than copping out).
Yes, he CAN hit you from where I was shooting
from if he gets close enough to the edge.
Author info : I am a 25 year old chemistry grad student at the
University of Toronto. I have been enjoying Doom
since Feb. '95, and my adiction just seems to be
getting stronger and stronger. D2M took a little
longer to complete than D1M for me, mostly
because of that damn map 29. Oh well, now on to
the good stuff....SG, T, GM. Heh. Piece of cake.
