Author                  : Yonatan Donner
Completion date         : 04-04-96 (the day it arrived at my BBS)
Game and version used   : The Ultimate Doom v1.9, but I think you can also
use the normal Doom v1.9 to view the demos too.

Substitutions?          : No, I already recorded all the levels in Speedy
Gonzales, so I didn't want to record more levels
                         twice than I needed (that's why I didn't
substitute easy for 3 hards or something).
System used             : Pentium 133 (new!!!) with SB16 (quite new)
Controls used           : Keyboard ONLY with default controls but with two
                         changes:
Strafe left  - keypad 1 ("end")
Strafe right - keypad 3 ("page down")
Free interpretation     : For my free interpretation I wanted to do
something nice which I couldn't find anywhere.
There are many runs of episode 1 available, but
nobody did it with 100% kills including E1M9, so
that's what I did. The free interpretation is a
demo of the entire episode 1 (the best episode!),
including the secret E1M9, all levels with 100%
kills. It didn't take as long as I thought, but it
isn't too short so don't expect it to end in 20
minutes or something. Blessed is the maxdemo (or
something like that). The demo takes (including
non-playing screens) 01:01:53 hours to view, but I
did the individual levels quite quickly. See the
time table in the "comments" section.
Comments                : OK, brace yourselves (this is *long*):
I'll begin with a general saying: It was very
easy. All of the demos are my first tries. I'm
used to UV and not HMP, so occasionally I search
for monsters that aren't there or fire at a wall
(yeah, that showed that wall!). Now specifics:
E1M3 - A fun easy level which is nicer with 100%
kills/secret but it was very easy for Speedy
                         Gonzales too.
E1M5 - Another easy level. Nothing to say.
                         E2M7 - It's easy but it's boring. I personally
think that episode 1 is great but episodes 2 and 3
aren't very good (large levels which look bad with
endless rooms that look exactly the same way -
E2M6 mostly). This one is not so bad but it has
many rooms and I forgot it from the last time I
played it. So I got confused and lost about 10
seconds (still 2 minutes under par), but there
weren't enough monsters there to kill me. DOOM 1
                         is so easy...
Episode 1 - well, I've just finished doing this
(first try of course) and it was long but fun. I
like the first episode much more than the rest,
because it looks a lot better (E1M7 is wonderful),
and episode 4 is quite good too. I saw many runs
of episodes when the player takes the shortest
route to the exit, and many single-level
recordings with 100% kills/secret. But I saw no
runs for entire episodes with 100% kills/secret,
so I thought it's time to make one - after all,
when you play normally that's the way you take:
Doom as it should be played! Here is a timetable
and after that you can find my comments about the
                         individual levels:

Note: the table contains ASCII table codes, so if
your viewer doesn't like that and shows strange
letters or something, just load another editor
                         that allows that. NO PANIC!

                         Comments about the individual levels:

                         E1M1 - Hangar
                         -------------

A very easy level. I didn't use the Ultimate Doom
switch so that every one (even those with normal
Doom v. 1.9) will be able to play it. As Anthe (I
think) put it: "Oh what a social boy ;-)"

                         E1M2 - Nuclear Plant
                         --------------------

Another easy level, this one has a dark labyrinth
with frightening troopers :-) I hate those labyrinths
in episode 1 because they take so much time and
you have to use the automap to get 100% kills and
                         secret.

                         E1M3 - Toxin Refinery
                         ---------------------

I recall seeing someone's free interpretation
called "how NOT to do E1M3". This demo has some
good parts but it has some stupid mistakes, such
as: Running into the middle of a group of imps,
getting a barrel blown in my face by a (suicidal)
sergeant etc.. I used the secret exit of course so
                         that I'll do E1M9 too.

                         E1M9 - Military Base
                         --------------------

I jumped on all the columns but one. If you want
to see me jump on all of them, see the E1M9 demo
in DM1FULL.ZIP. I just didn't need that shotgun.

                         E1M4 - Command Control
                         ----------------------

                         Another stupid maze!

                         E1M5 - Phobos Lab
                         -----------------

A nice level. Why did I get 88% secrets? (If you
                         know, mail me)

                         E1M6 - Central Processing
                         -------------------------

How many mazes are there in episode 1? Other than
                         that it's a good level.

                         E1M7 - Computer Station
                         -----------------------

I love that one. Those windows...

                         E1M8 - Phobos Anomaly
                         ---------------------

I didn't get hit during the entire level (until
the end). I also managed to kill every monster in
the end before the episode ended (you can check if
you like). I think I got 100% items because I took
the soulsphere and the partial invisibility.
                         That's it!

Author info             : 15 years old DOOM addict living in Rehovot, Israel.
I'm the author of DM1FULL, a LMP collection for
all of Doom 1. I also recorded most of episode 4.
I'm the programmer of LMPTXT, the automatic LMP to
TXT template converter (generator? whatever). It's
currently in beta testing, but look for it soon!
I have 4 Doom Honourific Titles so far:
                         DOOM 1 Master
                         DOOM 2 Master
                         DOOM 1 Speedy Gonzales
                         DOOM 2 Speedy Gonzales
I wonder why aren't there any Heretic masters? If
you have any idea, please mail me. Actually,
please give me feedback because I love getting
mail. And if anyone has Heretic-master-class demos
for Heretic, please mail them to me. I love
writing huge text files, but unfortunately I have
nothing more to write. Bye then.
