Substitutions? : NO
System used : P133/16Mb, S3 Trio with 2Mb VRAM, sbPro compatible.
Controls used : Logitech 3-button mouse with accelleration set to
medium + standard keyboard layout.
Free interpretation : E4M1 - 'cos it's my favourite.
Comments : E1M3 - Easy, once you survive the start. I get the
shogun quite cleanly and it's all downhill from
there... NOT!! The shiftkey on my keyboard got
stuck whilst legging it form the room with the
first soul sphere to the acid pit with the rocket
launcher. This makes movement quite precarious and
I get stuck a few times. Still finish it with 200%
health and armour (via the normal exit). Dance at
the beginning.
E2M9 - Don't like this one very much - I like to do
my own killing :-). Get ready for the dance as soon
as I get out of the tomato room. Bit silly to step
back into the path of the barons "sweaty palms"
scent, but I survive. Note the incorrectly pegged
texture on the sector that the blue key is sitting
on. It's been there since V1.2, surely someone must
have noticed, jeez.. ;-)! I end the level with
hundreds and narrowly par it.
E3M3 - I take the fairly conservative approach by
killing the first demon and then legging it for the
box of bullits and the chaingun. This doesn't go
very smoothly but I scrape through, even though I
make the mistake of thinking I've killed both imps
in the cage - until the survivor takes a healthy
chunk out of my shoulder. Futher down the line I
get a bit loose in the blood pit because its full
of imps I woke up while getting the chaingun. Dance
is before I raise the platform with the two demons.
E4M1 - You've got to love it! It took me days to
figure out how to get all the monsters out, then
another week to work out a strategy to make do with
the limited ammo and health (not a single medikit
on the damn level!). I can still only do it once
every 10 attempts. I've experimented with trying to
lock the spectres and the barons together in the
palindrome room, but can't do it. (If you can,
send me a lmp!). The key to a successfull run lies
in not taking too much damage but still stopping to
aim well to conserve ammo. This is why I nail the
first baron with three rockets to leave enough
shotgun ammo to mop up the last resistance after I
kill the others. In the lmp I recorded (attempt 13
-nerves I guess) for the DHT the first baron gets
to nail ME twice as I get distracted by an imp.
Futher scary moments ensue as another baron has the
sense to take the long way round, - first time
that's happened. Dance is after I initially clear
the courtyard and get the rocket launcher. I forget
to show you that a skull wall rises if you walk
over the palindrome, but, who cares? -It's not a
violent affair.
Author info : I'm selfemployed doing a lot of subcontracting in
PC hardware and installing small Win95 peer-to-
peer networks for dokters and small businesses.
I play a lot of computer games, notably racing
simulations and, of course, DOOM.
I feed my doom-addiction by regulary watching other
peoples lmps and playing pwads.
Future plans include desinging a pwad of my own and
getting more involved in deathmatching and multi-
player gaming in general.
On a personal level people say I tend to be long
winded from time to time... surely not?
