Greetings...

This is the second edition of the KNOWN MODEM INIT STRINGS FOR DOOM (KNISFD).
I am proud to say that it has increased in size.  However, I cannot promise
it has increased in accuracy.  It seems that some modems and connections
vary differently even between the same modem!  So, if you see a string on
here that you can't get to work, it doesn't mean it doesn't work....

Understand?

If you see a typo, please report it.

BEG BEG BEG:

Please, if your modem is not on this list, and you have it working,
email:

               [email protected]

with the type of modem, init string, and hangup string if different.

Thanks goes to all the posters who I stole this stuff from.
I do not know if these settings work...  I am just trying to be nice,
so don't flame me if your modem still doesn't work.

If you have any suggestions or other additions you would like to see
included in the MODEM DOOM FAQ, please send you suggestions to the
above address.  Eventually, I will get around to either sending them
to Hank or compiling them with this or another DOOM document.

In your favorite terminal program, type "AT &F" BEFORE running
DOOM.  Then, put the following initialization string in the MODEM.CFG.
Putting "AT &F" in the string does not work.

i think you need a fossil driver and you might also have to lock it
at 19200... i got x00.sys and put it in my config.sys using

  device=c:\x00.sys E 1 B,0,19200 R=1024 T=2048

after i intstall the modem responded fine... i don't know if this necessary
  but it worked for me

Due to the fact that DOOM does not raise CTS for hardware flow control,  we
had to add &K0 to the modem init string for the ZOOM modem.  Otherwise, your
modem string for Zoom was fine.
