Welcome to my gopherhole | |

---------------------------------------- | |
This is the first post on my new phlog. Some days ago I created my new | |
public gopher server. The installation of Gophernicus on my new virtual | |
server went pretty smooth. | |
I have to admit that I haven't used gopher for quite a while. The first | |
time I remember was me looking for drivers for a graphics card on my | |
OS/2 box back in 1995. Unfornunately, I can't remember the name of the | |
gopher client, but I recall that one of the servers belonged to | |
IBM. Those were the days! | |
Fast forward almost 25 years. The web has become a place of total | |
surveillance. After browsing gopher pages and reading all the amusing | |
phlogs for some days, I decided that it's about time for some | |
javascript, css and ad-tracking detox, so I created this little | |
gopherhole. I hope that I will find the time to make some old content | |
available here as well. | |
I've always been attracted to alternative technologies, and Gopher fits | |
perfectly! Most of my work days, I extensivly use command line | |
tools. Not sure about my workflow for Gopher yet, so I'm playing around | |
with some of the available tools. 'burrow' seems quite nice, though it | |
might need some hacking to suit my needs. | |
Anyway, if you have any comments, drop me a line at "jan [at] | |
mecinus.com". | |
