enhancement to leave
I use the "leave" program every day.  It goes to sleep in the
background and sends a message when it's time to leave.  It bothers you
five minutes before the scheduled time and every minute thereafter.
Often, I'm hot on the trail of some problem or another and leave yells
that it's time to leave.  I then have to somehow spawn a ps (talk about
lightning speed) and kill the process so it doesn't remind me every
minute that I'm going to be yelled at when I get home late.  It seems
clear that it's a fine idea for leave to print its process number in
the message that it sends you so that you can kill it if you want to
without running ps.

Make sure that you put the getpid after the fork.  Also, make sure that
you kill the process with signal 9, or it will compete for your
standard input with your current process, asking you if you are sure.
