Hidden Feature of the Day: calendar
At least in 4.1bsd, the calendar program takes a line of the form:

* 21 Pay your bills!

and will print it out on the 21st day of each month.  (* is a global
month spec.)
Great for bills.  This is not documented anywhere.
You can try it by putting such a line in your calendar file and just
running the calendar command with no args.
