name encryption, anyone?

Every week or so I see someone flame on about people not
signing their news.  I would like to know what is wrong
about it.  I think it is wonderful to have a net where
anyone can express their views.  One of the major reasons
why this works is that the net eliminates differences due
to race, sex, speaking impediments, and so on.  When I
see someone speak in person, it is sometimes quite an effort
to listen what they are saying and eliminate all the information
I am getting from their gestures, mannerisms, appearance,
etc.  The only reason I can figure out why some people
object to unsigned mail is that at least names give you
some idea of sex, national origin, and so forth which that
reader desparately needs.
