With all due respect to the desires of those who wish
to avoid reading such "voluminous junk", I would have placed
the Astrology Digest in it's own newsgroup; HOWEVER, I feel very
strongly about the uncontrolled proliferation of newsgroups.
It is much too easy to lose control of the net when ANY user
can create a new newsgroup simply by submitting an article to
it. It is my fear that unrestrained use of such resources as
directories and such will be the downfall of the net. The astrology
articles and digests are expected to only last for a short term
(about two months at the most) and then to disappear from the
net until somebody else gets interested (if ever). To create
a newsgroup specifically for such a short term use is wasteful
and unthinking.
It was my understanding that *net.misc* is specifically
for miscellaneous and short term discussions. On that basis
I will continue to use net.misc (unless "the networkers" decree
otherwise!)
