Re: What is the etymology of "flame"?
I have noticed recently many questions about the etymology of various
terms in this group (daemon, flame, etc.).  Perhaps it would be useful if
someone on the ARPAnet would circulate the *Hacker's Dictionary* that
resides at MIT and Stanford.  As I remember it, it does a reasonably good
job of explaining the uses, abuses, and derivations of many terms about
which there are likely to be questions.  I think it would be great if someone
could FTP the file from one of those machines and release it on net.misc.
