Re: read this with an open mind
The first time I heard this joke was at a INTRO meeting at Bell Labs.
The joke was told by I. M. Ross -- President of Bell Labs.  It was
to be an illustration showing the differences between
communication and data processing.   The translator provides
transmition (replace this word for communication in the last
sentence) except in the last sentence ("... he is not afraid to die")
which is data processing.
       If you tell a joke, give credit where credit is due!
