Beam-penetration tubes have expensive deflection circuitry (because
the beam deflection varies with the changing electron velocity) and
provide a limited range of colors. Think about it. How can you turn
on the second layer without turning on the first? With these two
factors, it would be hard to believe that Atari would use such a
system. No, shadow-mask tubes must be the only answer.
