cartoon query

Another genuine request for information here.  I have memories of an
animated cartoon series about a turtle (NOT Touche Turtle) who, for
example, after reading a story about a knight in shining armour,
wanted to be just that.  So he would pack himself off to Mr. Lizard
the Wizard (I believe that's correct), who would then cast a spell to
turn him into a knight.  Inevitably, he discovered, while getting
roasted by a dragon, that being a knight wasn't what it was cracked up
to be and decided he wanted out, prompting the plaintive cry of:
"Saaaave me, Mister Wizard!"  At which point the lizard would pop him
back, accompanied by some doggerel that I vaguely remember as
something like:

       "Drizzle, drazzle
        druzzle, drome
        Time for *this* one
        To come home"

The point of this boring description is that although I've met many
people who remember the cartoon, and particularly the "Save me" line,
I have met *no one* who remembers the turtle's name.  The closest I
can come up with is "Timothy," but that doesn't really sound right.
Any hints?

P.S.  As long as we're on old cartoons, any fans of "The Beanie and
Cecil Show" out there?  Is it still shown anywhere?  How about "George
of the Jungle?"
