A couple of random ideas for enhancements to Rogue:

   1)  It would be interesting if it were possible to wield
       more than one thing at a time.  I'm thinking in particular
       of the possibility of wielding a sword and a shield (with
       the obvious semantics of sword = damage to monsters and
       shield = more protection in addition to armor).  There
       would be some interactions:  e. g., wielding a two-handed
       sword would preclude wielding a shield, and perhaps it
       would be illegal to wield two swords (for example).  Also,
       some weapons (such as the Mace and the two-handed sword)
       traditionally had significant defensive capabilities as
       compared to ordinary swords and other weapons;  perhaps
       this could be factored into the scoring.

   2)  I've seen a game along this line which had (in addition
       to the above capability) the additional features of
       being able to wear different helms & gauntlets.  This
       seems somewhat less interesting than 1) above (and the
       line has to be drawn somewhere, given the size of the
       program on a PDP-11), but some thought along these lines
       might be interesting.
