video arcade games
Being something of a video arcade game addict (Tempest,
Astro Blasters, Defender, Rally X, etc.) I've often
wondered what it is like inside the places where these
games are designed and the technology of making these
games. For example, what is the hardware configuration
of these machines; what kinds of chips do they use, how
much memory do they have in them, what is the software
development enviroment like; are the games written in
assembler or some high-level language, etc.
But considering how fierce the competition is in this
marketplace I imagine that Atari and the rest of these
manufacturers keep their secrets pretty closely guarded.
