Vol 2 #5
To post to Strangeways, please send mail to Kevin at
[email protected].
Well, it looks like things are getting back up and running
again. I'd almost thought Strangeways had died out. I've
had tons of new subscription requests, but no one was posting.
I guess that's the way it goes. Keep them coming.
BTW, I got a number of bad account numbers on the last post.
If you know people who have sent in subscription requests and
did not receive this or the previous post, please have them
mail me again. It happens every so often, but with so many
people on the list, I can't keep track of those that bounce.
Thanks.

At the end of the summer, I called MTV and was told that there is no such
Rockumentary planned. Hmmm... She was also very curious to know where
I had gotten that info.
"You shut your mouth, how can you say I go about things the wrong way" :-)
Mozzer is returning to the NY area for one show, Nov. 11 I think.
Sadly, I won't be attending :-(

Subject: videos
I thought I'd take time out to describe a morrissey item that came
into my possession:
Morrissey at Madison Square Garden, NYC 7/13/91 VHS Video
About 1 hr of the MSG show. Amateur shot by an audience member.
Very shaky... sometimes its takes the cameraperson quite a while to
actually find Morrissey on the stage. Pretty interesting, though, when
the camera finally finds Morrissey. A couple people make it onto the
stage. And the band members destroy their guitars and each other.
Tons of fun. My copy is 1st generation so it looks pretty good. Hi-fi
stereo, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's particularly good
sound. Sound is pretty mediocre.
Also on video:
BBC Southbank Documentary - Interviews/clips of the smiths right before
and right after the breakup. Very interesting and entertaining.
Includes interviews with Sandi Shaw, John Peel, Viv Nicholson, and others.
About 50-60min long.
Smiths - Rockpalast 1984
Concert from german TV. Morrissey in the good old days with national health
glasses and flowers coming out of his pants. Approx 45-55min.
I'd love to hear about any similar items any of you may have. And I'm open
to trades.
bye,
Steve

Subject: Smiths/Mo Audio files`
Hi
Would any of the readers on the list be interested in
getting Morrissey's audiofiles for Sparc stations ?
I can record portions/songs from Kill Uncle and
The Queen is dead and mail them to you or somebody
else who can put them at the archive site.
These files are huge ( approx 1 Mb for 1.5 minutes)
so emailing them would be a headache even after
splitting them up.
-any sugestions ?

Subject: Anyone want to trade bootlegs?
Hi, I'm a taper with about 350 hours of bootleg of various bands.
I am interested in trading tapes with serious collecters to acquire
some high-quality Smiths/Morrissey bootlegs. If you are interested
in trading tapes, please email me at
[email protected]
Thanks,
David

Subject: LIVE Morrissey Video...
Date: Sun, 27 Oct 91 9:50:53 PST
the debut on MTV of the Live Morrissey Video was supposed to be in July, and
then it was supposed to be in August. I'm not sure if that ever happened
either, but it is supposed to be out on video this year on Palace (who
put out Hulmerist). It will include Morrissey singing with David Bowie
in L.A.
I found the import of "My Love Life" and it includes "There's a Place in Hell
For Me and My Friends" (Live) but it's really just the KROQ recording. And,
in my opinion, the KROQ CD sounds better than the import of this song. The
only other difference between the domestic CD of "My Love Life" and the
import, is that the import has a longer version of "I've Changed My Plea to
Guilty." The song has another song in the beginning and end with talking.
I thought I recognized it as one of the opening songs or something at
the Berekely show, but I'm not sure.
I wonder if Morrissey will do anything special since he's playing Halloween
out here in Mountain View? :)

Subject: Concert Dates
Well, if you haven't already figured it out, Morrissey is playing a second
date in Los Angeles. November 4 in Santa Monica. Of course KROQ didn't
announce it until tickets were already sold out. It appears Morrissey
is doing a 'college' tour as most of the places he's going to are in
relatively small venues on college campuses. Any opinions on this? He
could have easily filled up another Forum (at least three times over)
or some other huge venue. Hmmm....
BTW, does anyone know what the tour is 'named' and/or know of any concert
dates for the east coast? For that matter, has anyone been to any of the
new concerts yet? Is it any different from the tour earlier this year or
is it pretty much the same. Questions, questions...I guess I'll find out
November 4th.
Hasta.

Hey Strangewayers, tell us east coast people when we can get in line for
tickets, I know of only the Atlanta show being on Thanksgiving night.
And is it true that the Smiths disciple band James is the opening act?
