Greetings

I've had an avalanch of new requests to join the list so I figured I'd
better write up an introduction for everyone's benefit.

Well, let's start with the basics...I'm Kevin Kawado and right now it
looks like I'm running most of this.  Michael Massengale usually runs
the 'mailing list' portion of the list, however, he is on vacation and
won't be back until January.  BTW, has anyone heard from Michael?

This list started about a year ago since neither of us had known of a
Smiths/Morrissey group (there's one for just about every other band,
though).  After this list started, we found out about Blood on the
Clever (?) which was kind of a predecessor to this list.  I had no
idea of its existance, but it apperantly was a Smiths/Morrissey list
that died out a few years before Strangeways started up.  Does anyone
know where the archives for this list are?  I'd be interested in digging
them up.  Perhaps it would start some new discussions here.

Strangeways is a moderated discussion forum.  I'll send out mail in
this format every two weeks or so, depending on the activity generated.
If there's a lot of posts, journals might come out more often.  To post
something to Strangeways, just send me mail with "Strangeways: <subject>"
in the Subject field so that I can distinguish it from what is my
personal mail and what should be posted to Strangeways.

Strangeways archives are available through anonymous ftp at quartz.rutgers.edu
under the path pub/strangeways.  All the previous issues are archived
there thanks to David Pirmann.  They are all in .Z compression to save
on disk space so you'll have to download them in binary format and then
'uncompress' them on your machine.  Also on the archive site are the lyrics
and discography.  The lyrics are in both WordPerfect 5.1 format and in
straight ascii.  The discography, I believe, is only in ascii format.
The lyrics were originally typed in by Nicole Nelson (who said she was
just bored a few summers ago :-) ).

I hope that answers everyone's questions.

Hopefully this will generate a little discussion.  Things have been pretty
quiet lately considering Morrissey is touring he's released a number of
singles recently.

Subject: Morrissey bootlegs

does anyone know the 'truth' about some Morrissey bootlegs that are
on their way out?  The record store I go to all the time was saying
something about a possible 'Live in Holland' album titled something
like _Dead Uncle_.  There was also word of a Sire release entitled
_KillJoy_ of the New York show in Madison Square Garden.

Also, what ever happened to that MTV Rockumentary special that was
suppose to air sometime in August :-).  I don't recall hearing anything
about it, but then again, I don't watch MTV very often.  Wasn't there
also supposed to be a concert video coming out?

Hasta.
