Subject: Strangeways: New Moz single & gigs
New Moz single due on September 30. My Love Life (originally intended for
earlier release with Pregnant as a b-side) comes with I've Changed My Plea
To Guilty and a live version of There's A Place In Hell.
Then there's a short tour of Britain and Ireland followed by around fifty
dates in the US. He must like you Americans!

Subject: Strangeways-Morrissey' U.S. Tour
Simon mentioned that Morrissey would be returning to the U.S. for
about fifty gigs. Please let me know as soon as someone finds out
just where these shows will be because he did not come anywhere near
Minneapolis this summer.

I noticed this in the paper a few days too late though. I picked up the
living section to the San Jose Mercury, and noticed a picture of David
Bowie. I noticed that on September 6, 1991, at 12:00am on channel 7,
David Bowie had done a live performance on/for tv. I looked over to read
the description and it said that it was David Bowie's new line-up with
Tin Machine that was on. And I thought, "I would have liked to see that."
And then I read on to read a "and Morrissey." in the description. "I missed
that>???!?!?!?"
Well, I did and I don't really know what it was all about. My guess was that
Morrissey either played with Tin Machine, or they showed clips of when
David Bowie played with Morrissey in Los Angeles. I'm not sure and may
never know, but I have the ill feeling that it was footage of Morrissey
that was appearing on his upcoming video release by Palace of his tour
(including the footage of when David Bowie sang with him in LA).
Nevertheless, if anyone did see this, please post about it. I'd love
to hear about it. My friend recently obtained a bootleg of the live
Morrissey show in LA from a store in San Louis Obispo. It was an "O.K."
recording, he told me, but he told me that David Bowie came up on stage and
said a few words to the audience and they were going ape-shit to have even
seen him come out. The tape also had the 3 songs that Morrissey played
on KROQ live. No one had announced he was going to be on the that radio
station, and when he was coming on, you hear the DJ talking about how
the band was ready but they didn't know where Morrissey was. He then
comes on and they play "There's a Place in Hell for Me and My Friends",
"My Love Life" and finally "Sing Your Life."
I have yet to find his new single in Santa Cruz, but my friend definitely
told me that it was different (yet again) from what Morrissey has done
already. Also, ads in our papers are being printed saying that Morrissey
will tour the Bay Area again. I wonder if he will be touring the same
time Tin Machine will (who have their second album out now).

Subject: Morrissey on Tonight Live, Australia

A friend said he saw Morrissey on Tonight Live (the Steve Vizard show),
on last tuesday, 10/9/91. He sang one song, totally live with his band.
I'm not sure what song it was but it contained the words '...got down on
one knee- well maybe he's only got one knee..' or something like that,
and featured a solo on double bass.
Did anyone see it or tape it even?
btw, Morrissey is touring down here at the moment. I won't have the
chance to see him but is there anyone who did?

Subject: smiths ref. in "The Commitments"
Just wanted to report in that I saw the film "The Commitments"
recently (about a soul band who tries to make it in Dublin), and in
one part of the film the band manager is interviewing all kinds of
different musicians to try and fill up the spots in the band. He puts
an ad in the paper and all sorts of musicians reply - heavy metal,
hard-core punk, folk, opera, etc. and he's pretty much losing his mind
having to listen to them all. (What he's really looking for are
musicians that can play soul.) At one point there's one guitar
player/singer who's playing the smiths' "Heaven knows I'm miserable
now" - and when the singer gets to that line, the band manager says "I
know just how you feel." It was pretty funny.
And, oh yes - more Morrissey dates in the States? Does anyone have a
rough idea as to the time frame for this?

i got a hold of a copy of my love life, it's pretty good, though i haven't got
a chance to listen to the b sides, but i hope they are better then the sing
your life b'sides. Does anyone know what are the american dates????

Subject: the k rock session
i just saw and heard the session moz did live for k rock. First let me say
that moz and the band look very fasionable and angst ridden on the cover of
the cd. There's a place is really good, so is my love life but sing your
life is the best track on it by far. I would recommend buying it just for that
track. At the end of the cd the messages from the callers were taped.
All and all very charming
