Hi all!

Today, our 800th. subscriber has come on board. I'm really
excited that our Ezine has grown so well- a reflection of
the tremendous support and loyalty of our readers. Thank
you very much. We'll continue to try and bring you worthwhile
material every week to continue earning your support.

It is true that this ezine, and the website to come, promote
our INDIVIDUAL responsibility to "Be Happy, Be Healthy,
Live Long and Prosper"  That doesn't mean that that we are
advocating a selfish attitude. Most of the time, we want to
achieve these worthwhile aims FOR people we care about, or
we need the support of other people to achieve them.

Either way, relationships are a very important part of life.
And NO relationship is more important than the one with the
person we love. With that in mind, I'd like to introduce
Michael Webb to you. Michael is a rare beast- a Romantic Man!
I only recently discovered Michael's wonderful website and
ezine. Starting this week, we'll be including an item from
Michael each fortnight. They're aimed at men, but women
have been known to use them as a prompter! Michael's first

A son and his father were walking in the mountains.

"AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in
the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

                 Humor: About Last Night
                 -----------------------

You've heard of the Air Force's ultra-high-security, super-
secretbase in Nevada, known as "Area 51".  Late one
afternoon, the Air Force folks out at Area 51 were surprised
to see a Cessna landing at their "secret" base. They
immediately impounded the aircraft and hauled the pilot into
an interrogation room.

The pilot's story was that he took off from Las Vegas, got
lost, and spotted the Base just as he was about to run out
of fuel. The Air Force started a full FBI background check
on the pilot and held him overnight during the investigation.

By the next day, they were finally convinced that the pilot
really was lost and wasn't a spy. They gassed up his
airplane, gave him a terrifying "you-did-not-see-a-base"
briefing, along with threats of spending the rest of his
life in prison, gave him directions to Las Vegas and sent
him on his way.

The next day, to the total disbelief of the Air Force, the
same Cessna showed up again.  Once again, the MP's
surrounded the plane, only this time there were two people
on board!

The same pilot jumped out and said, "Do anything you want
to me, but my wife is in the plane and you have to tell her
where I was last night!"

              Romance On The Clearance Tables
              -------------------------------

Sometimes in late January/early February, all the calendars
that haven't been sold are put on clearance. Many of the
calendars like my favorite, The Far Side have many more uses
than for counting down the days.

Several times I have bought calendars on clearance to add
to my "romantic arsenal" for future use. Many have funny
comics or interesting quotes that make wonderful filler
material for all the notes and cards I continually send
to my wife.

365 Day calendars can be cut up and made into a collage or
giant card. Some people use them to create a scrapbook to
reflect on the past year. Imaginif you had one of those
calendars and wrote down one thing you and your love
did on each day and gave it to them for a Christmas or
New Year's present at the end of the year.

If you have access to a computer scanner or fax, you might
be able to write a personal note on each day and send it to
your love at work for a good morning greeting.

The larger, more colorful calendars make great wrapping paper
or can be used to decorate hand-made gifts like hat boxes
and even "romantic arsenal" boxes.

Go to the mall or the nearest bookstore and stock up on some
discounted calendars and put them to romantic use.

5. BE HEALTHY, LIVE LONG: the BODY-HEALTH/FITNESS/NUTRITION
------------------------------------------------------------

         "Food Fit for the Fit" Recipe:  3-in-1 Soup
         -------------------------------------------
                         with Glen Esse

                     1. Pumpkin Soup
                     ---------------

Ingredients;

1 packet of chicken noodle soup mix
1 packet of french onion soup mix
2 1/2 litres of water
1 small pumpkin- enough chopped & peeled to fill the pot,
  but still be covered by the liquid

Throw everything in at once; let simmer for 1/2 an hour,
stirring occasioally.


Remove pot from heat. You'll need to blend it all until you
have a  good, smooth consistency. This can be done in a
blender, a food processor, or you can force it through a
sieve. I prefer my trusty Bamix, mixing it in the pot. You
may need to add a small amount of water or skim milk, if it's
too thick.

You now have pumpkin soup ready to serve. Add a small dollop
of light sour cream and a sprig of fresh parsley to each
plate.

This amount of soup serves about 6 people. If your house is
like mine, with one hungry beast and one fussy eater, you'll
have lots of soup  left over. What to do with that?
Tomorrow you have Tomato Soup!

                      2. Tomato Soup
                      --------------

To one litre of the pumpkin soup, add the following while
heating;

1 cup tomato paste
1 tablespoon raw sugar
1 1/2-2 cups of water

Be sure to stir it all in while it warms up- it doesn't need
to be  re-cooked, just simmered for five minutes.

This can be served with a dollop of sour cream, fresh cream
or light natural yoghurt, and a sprinkle of dried or fresh-
chopped basil.

Once again, it was just the two of us. Now it gets
interesting. We  still have lots of soup left! (Even though
this is may be the 3rd. or 4th. day, the soup keeps really
well, covered in the refrigerator. It can also be frozen.
OR, you can use it as a base for the next episode of our
3-in-1 soup- Minestrone!

                      3. Minestrone Soup
                      ------------------

Heat soup through, adding one small can of 3-bean
mix. Then add one  cup of cooked noodles or small
pasta- if you have something like spaghetti or
fettucine, just chop it up. Also add 1/2 to 3/4 cup
of chopped leg ham.

Add to this any firm cooked vegetables- like carrots,
cauliflower,  broccoli, sweet potato, potato, or green beans,
chopping it up into small pieces. You can improvise, and
throw in just about ANYTHING! Remember, NEVER put onions in
minestrone soup- they take away the delicate flavour. Finally,
add one heaped teaspoon of dried or fresh basil. Simmer for
five minutes, until it's all well heated. Serve with grated
parmesan.

This time!, I'll think I'll give the leftovers to my neighbour!

           Keeping Your Cool: Anger Management

If you find yourself getting angry often, then you have a
health problem. It's been well documented, and generally
accepted, that keeping your anger IN is unhealthy.  Now, in a
new twist, recent research shows that people who let their
anger OUT, often suffer more symptoms and sickness than
those who keep it all in. It also doesn't do a lot for our
relatuionships!

If holding our anger in, AND letting it out are both bad for
us, then what's the answer?

"One way is to change our expectations.", says Dr Merny
Schwartz. "Stop telling yourself that it is awful or terrible
that you have to wait on line, get caught in traffic, get
treated unfairly, receive inferior service at a restaurant,
etc.; they are merely unavoidable, if unfortunate, facts of
life."


                  No Wonder Men Die Sooner!

The average life expectancy for a woman is 76.4, for a man
it's 68.6.  Why should that be?  Maybe it's because women visit
the doctor 30% more often than men.  Maybe it's because they
live a healthier lifestyle.

The article "Men's Vs. Women's Health Facts", provided at
the National Men's Health Week website lists some disturbing
statistics.

In 1998, there were 265,000 new cases of lung cancer in women,
772,000 in men.  136,000 women between the ages 45-64 suffered a
heart attack, 424,000 men did.  There were 58,000 new cases of
bladder canceer in women, 203,000 in men.

With the odds stacked against men, this might be a good time to
look at your diet and fitness, and to have that medical men always
seem to put off.


          Do You have Computer Vision Syndrome?
          -------------------------------------

In a study commissioned by the American Opthamological
Association, it was found that 15% of patient-scheduled eye
exams are the result of computer vision syndrome (CVS).

CVS is a collection of syptoms, including headaches,
burning or tired eyes, blurred or double vision, as well as
neck and shoulder pains.

CVS is caused by a number of factors, including lighting,
location of the screen, the quality of the monitor etc. It
also makes worse any existing problems in a person's eyesight.

With up to 50% of the computer-using workforce in the US
estimated to have some experience with CVS, we need to be
more aware of this potential problem.

     Ads Not Pulling? Don't Blame the Publisher Yet!

      Ad Writer's Tips and Tricks by Robert Olson


We all work hard to write  that hot prospect pulling ad but
many times we get little or no response at all. Publishers
take alot of heat when it comes to this problem. Just the
other day I listened as an ezine publisher told a story of a
guy who wanted all his money back when his ad didn't pull.
Should the publisher give a refund?

For many years I was an advertising consultant in the mail
order industry. I heard so many people complain about how
bad so and so publication was and how it didn't pull any or
very few responses. Sometimes, people never consider that
their ad may have been to blame for the outcome. As
advertisers, we need to shoulder the responsiblity. We need
to understand that to write ads that pull,  means learning
another profession or at least learning the bare basics so
our advertising is not in vain. Read on and you can discover
the ad writer's formula used for decades by successful
copywriters.

First,  think about words for a moment. Think about how
powerful they can be.  Words.... so powerful they can cause
people to fight or a whole country to go to war.  Words make
us laugh and they can make us cry but they can also make
people buy!  Ads written with a proven formula and with the
right words can pull responses like crazy. If the ad is in
a place where it can be read for years, the responses will
just keep coming. One of my best ads was placed in mail
order publications back in 1993 and today I still get
responses to that particular ad everyday! Here is that ad:

Save up to 50% on Groceries!
Plus Earn Thousands of $$$'s
Helping Others Save!
Write or call today!

This ad was written using the basic formula that most
copywriters use. The fact is that anyone can use this formula
and when you do, you will see measurable results. Here is
the formula:

attract   -  Attention

generate  -  Interest

stimulate -  Desire

ask for   -  Action

When people are scanning ads, and their eyes move across
your ad, you only have a few seconds if that to capture
their attention. The  first objective is to write a headline
that can attract the reader's Attention. This is the first
step of the four part formula for writing successful ads.
You want it to be your ad that grabs the reader's attention.
You may have to write pages of different headlines to get
one that stands out from the rest but this is really a
small price to make the difference between success and
failure.

Start by writing down the main benefit of your product or
service.  A benefit is something that fills a need in the
reader's life. It may be more money or better health. It
may be a service that saves valuable time or just makes
life easier in some way. When you know what your main
benefit is, start writing  headlines using power words to
emphasize and magnify your main benefit. Before you begin,
it would be wise to read ads for the purpose of learning to
write ads. You will start to see the big differences between
ads.... from the bland to the downright compelling!  One
person might write 'Eggs for Sale' but the next person may
make his eggs sound so much better even if the eggs are
identical! 'Farm Fresh Eggs for Sale!'  Now don't those eggs
sound much better?

Once you have a headline that you feel can get the reader's
attention, your next job is to develop 'Interest and Desire'.
As with most ads, you will have to do this with a limited
amount of words so don't waste them! The reader of your ad
should be persuaded that what you offer will solve one of
their problems. Let them know that your Herbal Pain Relief
Formula really will give  them a  pain free life once again!
Use power words to emphasize the benefits they will get if
they respond to your ad. Solve  one of the reader's problems
with words and your are just about there!

One of the biggest mistakes made by ad writers is when they
fail to ask the reader to take 'action'. If you have a
Herbal Pain Formula website, you might close the ad by
writing 'To End Your Pain  - Click Here! If you want the
person to respond by email, by phone or to write to you,
tell them how to respond. If you don't tell them to respond
they probably won't! Here is how an ad for a herbal pain
formula might read:

Live Pain Free!
New Herbal Formula with
Pain Free Guarantee!
To End Your Pain - Click Here Now!

Ad writing or copywriting is an art and you can't learn it
all from any one article. But if you will seek out the
information and  spend some time at developing this art, you
can see a difference in your  response rates. With time,
you may even write an award winner that could pull for years
to come!
