1. Welcome from the Publisher
-------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to all our new subscribers!

And welcome, everyone, to Issue 6. I'd like to take this
opportunity to say a few 'Thank You's'. Thank you to those
who have made kind comments, including Shelley Lowery, the
Webmaster of www.web-source.net website. Thank you to Glen
Esse, who each week provides us with a fantastic healthy
recipe. And thank you to Miki Imai. Miki is a Japanaese
athlete- a long-jumper. While Miki was on a recent visit to
my city, we met while training at the athletic track. I took
some time to make her feel welcome, and to make an
appointment with a Sports Doctor to look at a foot problem
she had. This week I was delighted, and very touched, to
receive a beautiful Japanese woodcut print in the mail from
her. Miki, thank you for your friendship and kindness. I
hope our Ezine can help inspire further outbreaks of
spontaneous kindness!

Among the many listings we are getting in Directories of
Ezines, one of the newest is at Low Bandwidth, a fascinating
index of over 80 interesting Ezines. On their listings, they
make provision for visitors to do a review of the Ezine. I
would like to invite any of our readers to 'have a go' at
writing one at  the following address;

The Review link is at the bottom of our listing. Have a look
around at other their E-zines while you're there, it's well
worth a browse!

Well, that's enough from me. Let's get into Issue 6. Enjoy!

2. Our Motto

Our Motto is-  "Be Happy, Be Healthy, Live Long and Prosper."
>From this Motto, we can define the three main areas in which
we intend to assist our readers..

-------------------------------------------------------------
3. BE HAPPY: the MIND-ATTITUDE
-------------------------------------------------------------

QUOTE:
"If you think you can, or think you can't, YOU'RE RIGHT!"
                                           - Henry Ford.

The cynic's attitude is "If I see it, I'll believe it."
While a cynical attitude is useful at times, a more positive
attitude tends to bring out the best in us. Best-selling
author Dr. Wayne Dyer was closer to the mark with the title
of one of his books- "You'll See It When You Believe It."
The attitude through which we view life has a powerful
effect on the outcomes we enjoy. This classic poem says as
much on the subject as any Ph.D. thesis could. -Ed

                   If You Think..
                   --------------
                  (Author unknown)

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
Then it's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will-
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
Yoy've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man who THINKS HE CAN!

Humor: Does Your Car Run Like Your Computer?
     --------------------------------------------

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly
compared the computer industry with the auto industry and
stated, "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer
industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000
miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, General
Motors is said to have issued a press release stating:

+ If GM developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be
driving cars with the following characteristics:

+ For no reason at all your car would crash twice a day.

+ Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would
have to buy a new car.

+ Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no
apparent reason, and you would just accept this, restart,
 and drive on.

+ Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn
would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in
which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

+ Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you
bought "Car95" or "Can't."  But then you would have to buy
 more seats.

+ Macintosh would make a car that was reliable, five times as
fast, and twice as easy to drive but would only run on 5%
 of the roads.

+ The airbag system would say "Are you sure?" before going
 off.

SAD, BUT TRUE Department...

"University of South Florida researchers who published their

replacing Communists, the CIA and the controlling power of

Nutrition Update: Zinc and the Weight-Regulating Hormone
 --------------------------------------------------------

Leptin is a hormone involved in weight regulation, through
its effect on our feeling of 'fullness'. Researchers believe
that some obese people do not produce enough leptin, or are
resistant to its action.

A recent study carried out by researchers at the Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical centre in Boston, found that circulating
leptin levels in their subjects increased when they were
given daily supplements of 30-60mg. of zinc. Levels fell when
the subjects' zinc intake was restricted.

Article: Focus On The Healthy Stuff
            -----------------------------------
Copyright 1999 by Greg Landry, M.S., All Rights Reserved

Last summer, A lady called me about her frustrating attempts
at weight loss. She said she had gone from diet to diet for
over 25 years...only to end up fatter and with a slower
metabolism after each "diet".

We talked for a long time, but the gist of it was this; I
told her to "dump the diets" and start focusing on pursuing
fitness and health. We talked about a few fruits and
vegetables she really liked. We talked about all the benefits
we get from fruits and vegetables and how we forget how good
they really taste...because we're bombarded with fat-laden
foods day after day.

She mentioned that she reeeeeally liked tomatoes... which
also happens to be a favorite of mine. I mean I'm a tomato
fanatic. I absolutely love them! I grow several varieties in
my backyard and several types of cherry tomatoes indoors when
it's too cold outside! So, we had quite a conversation about
tomatoes. We talked about her focusing her eating on some
fruits and vegetables she really liked and doing some
creative things with tomatoes. I also told her to start
walking EVERY morning..even if it was only 10 or 15 minutes
some mornings, but to try to get 30 to 45 minutes in every
day. I also told her to do a basic weight training program at
home with dumbells.

Well, I hadn't heard from her in nine months and she called
me last week. She's lost 48 pounds in nine months. She said
she focused on some fruits and vegetables she likes, but went
crazy with fresh tomatoes. She used over 10 healthy recipes
that use lots of tomatoes...she even ate tomato hash browns
(without oil) and tomato sandwiches for breakfast sometimes!
:) She was so excited and said she has never felt so good in
her life!

Now, I'm NOT suggesting that you only eat one or two foods,
but I am suggesting that you find the delicious fruits and
vegetables that you like and a few that you REALLY like...
and focus on these wonderful foods that God has given us.
These are the REAL, naturally low fat foods that we should be
eating! We've forgotten how good so many fruits and veggies
really taste...yes even without fat-laden sauces, cheeses,
butter, etc. I challenge you to re-discover the delicious
fruits and vegetables you really like.

Cook a huge pot of several veggies you like...they'll be
available all week, without a lot of preparation time when
your hungry. Maybe mix them with some brown rice and squeeze
some fresh lemon juice over them.. there's nothing better! :)

You can do the same with fruits. Make a big fruit salad with
three or four fruits you enjoy. Keep it in the frig for quick
access when you're hungry.

Here are some of my favorites (and some resources)...

1. Lemons are one of my favorites...you can do so much with
them. My kids love squeezing them for fresh juice that we use
for a variety of things...salads, vegetables, rice, to make
salad dressings, lemon aid, etc.

"150 Ways To Use A Lemon" - you'll find some great ideas in

Grow your own lemons and other citrus indoors or out on true
dwarf citrus trees. Call Four Winds Growers for their catalog
of dwarf citrus trees... 1-510-656-2591

2. Tomatoes are really high on my list...nutritious and great
for salads, sandwiches, vegetables, sauces, etc. I put
tomatoes on practically everything!  :) Call these companies
for their catalogs of 100's of varieties of tomato seeds you
can grow at home, some even indoors year-round...Tomato

QUOTE:
"So-called "luck" usually is found at the exact point where
preparation meets opportunity" - Kenneth Hildebrand

Many of us have a desire to start our own business. I know,
I've been there; done that. I had my own electrical retail
business that helped pioneer video, microwave ovens and
personal computers. In the almost five years it was open, we
AVERAGED over a MILLION DOLLARS in sales each year. Like
many other businesses, it was brought undone by a number of
factors. One consequence was that our family finances took a
beating.

While the desire to have my own business has never left me,
any desire to put my family's financial security at risk was
well and truly dispelled. The answer to both those desires
lay in Network Marketing. Although I was sold on the concept,
I went many years looking at different proposals, till I
found one I could identify with, and believe in. (Please
send me an email if you'd like to discuss it some more.)

Unfortunately, a majority of the population have some pretty
negative ideas about Network Marketing. I submit the
following story to you, so that perhaps you may better
appreciate the spirit behind the concept.- Ed.

A Lesson From The FIRST Network Marketing Organization
 ------------------------------------------------------
                    by Frank Sousa

He wasn't much to look at. He was born into a poor family,
and spent most of his life at hard labor... before he began
what is now the largest networking organization in the world.

This man had a concept and a mission. He was in a world of
millions of people who needed what he had. Not only did every
person need it, but the price was cheap enough that everyone
could afford it.... if only he could get the word out. How
would he reach such a vast population? His ideas were
radical! How can I ... one man alone reach these millions of
people who desperately need my product?

Ah Ha.. Network Marketing! I'll find a few good people and
spend my time with them. I'll teach them about this wonderful
lifesaving concept. I'll teach them how to teach others, and
then they can go out and share this product with others. Soon
the whole world will know of the tremendous life saving
benefits I can offer to them.

It wasn't easy. People didn't want to change. They had been
doing things their way for years. Why should they change? "If
it was good enough for my father, and his father, it should
be good enough for me." they said.

He began to build a small downline, working with them
constantly... teaching them all they needed to know. This
group of first line people came from a variety of
professions, from a doctor to an IRS agent. He poured out his
life teaching them about his product, and how to teach others
about it. Sometimes they did well, and other times they
failed miserably, but he never gave up on them. He taught by
example.

As this first downline group began to learn about the product
and the opportunity, they went out to share the product with
others, all the time being mentored by their leader.

It wasn't easy for them but they stuck with it. Sometimes
their prospects became violent. They hurled insults and
sometimes even slammed the doors in their faces. There were
times when they even left the company, battered from
discouragement and fear, but all but one of them came back.
They realized what a tremendous opportunity they really had.
All the glitter and hype from those other companies couldn't
hold up to the steadfast solid product that their original
organization had for them.

Their customers would try the product for a while, and many
would go back to their old buying habits, but as time went on
their organization began to grow. Within three years they had
grown to hundreds of thousands of people. Then a strange
thing happened. A few dissenters began to make false
accusations against the company, and in no time at all, many
of them not only left the company, but they caused the
government to actually arrest the leader! They put him on
trial, and shortly thereafter executed him for treason. But
that's not the end of the story.

Being left without a leader was hard for the rest of the
group, but they had been trained well by the master. They
decided to hold an opportunity meeting. There was a huge
rally, and over 5,000 people signed up that first night!
Those people began to learn, and they held smaller meetings
in their homes. The word began to spread into neighboring
towns and countries. Over the years this organization grew
and prospered into the largest networking organization in the
world. Today millions upon millions of people share in the
benefits that this organization provides.

No other organization has ever had such a sweeping and far
reaching effect on mankind as the one that Jesus started
almost 2000 years ago.

Network marketing is NOT just a flash in the pan. Much older
than Amway or Herbalife, it's a concept that has been going
on actually since the beginning of mankind.

The next time somebody tells you that network marketing is a
"fad", is "illegal", or "unethical", ask them what date they
write in their checkbook. 1996? One thousand nine hundred
and ninety six years from the start of the first network
marketing organization.

1. Welcome from the Publisher
-------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to Issue 7!,

A small number of times in each of our lives, an opportunity
comes along, or we see an idea that we just know is going to
'take off'  I've spent a lifetime in Marketing, and I've
developed a very healthy cynicism and 'BS-detector'.  On the
Net, particularly, I have greeted most of the 'propositions',
nearly all of the 'opportunities, and every one of the
'fantastic affiliate programs' with the 'Delete' button. I
just don't want to waste my time!

Over recent days, I've encountered, explored and decided
to join, an EXCEPTIONAL organisation. I've been reading
recommendations for it from authorities I respect (some of
whom are subscribers to our Ezine!) for about 8 weeks, but
my attention has been elsewhere. BIG MISTAKE!

Later in this Issue, Robert Imbriale shares with us a great
article- "Just Do It Now." That's a great theme, and a call
to action.

SO! I'm not going to go into a great sales spiel. I'm just
going to IMPLORE you to do yourself a favor, and, yes, to
Just Do It Now!  Get a cup of coffee, close the door, be
prepared to spend a few hours. The Ezine will be here later.

"Life is an Attitude-have a good one!"
-Linnda Stewart-Editor Inspiration421 Ezine

As with many pieces from years gone by, this next one refers
to the male of the species. I haven't changed the wording to
reflect more enlightened modern attitudes. The timeless
message in the poem is there for all of us- male and female
alike- Ed.

               To Any Little Boy's Father
               --------------------------
                       (Anon.)

There are little eyes upon you
And they're watching night and day;
There are little ears that quickly
Take in everything you say.

There are little hands all eager
To do everything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
Of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellow's idol;
You're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind, about you
No suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly,
Holds that all you say and do,
He will say and do in your way,
When he's grown up, just like you.

There's a wide-eyed little fellow
Who believes you're always right;
And his ears are always open
And he watches day and night.

You are setting an example
Every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
To grow up and be like you.

Three friends, Derkek, Pat and John had been shipwrecked,
and washed up on a desert island. After they had been
marooned many months, one day Pat found an ancient bottle
washed up on the beach. After calling his friends together,
Pat rubbed the bottle, releasing a powerful genie.

"I am thegenie of the bottle", he said, "and I will grant
you one wish each." Pat was first. "I'm tired of being
marooned. I wish that I was back home again." There was a
flash, a puff of smoke, and Pat was gone- returned to his
home. It was Derek's turn next. "I wish that I was back home
again, too." A flash of light and a puff of smoke, and Derek
was gone, too.

That left only John, who was suddenly feeling sad and very
much alone. "It's so lonely now, here on my own," he cried,
"I wish my friends could come back to keep me company!"

On websites, many webmasters put links to informative and
interesting services. Things such as news, cartoons, tips of
the day, jokes of the day and inspirational quotes. It works-
because it provides extra value to the visitor.

In planning our coming website, I have been looking at a
number of such services, and have selected a number to use.

And then it hit me! Why haven't I seen an Ezine publishers
doing the same thing in their publications? Two reasons,
probably. One, many people reading email are not connected to
the Net at the same time. Two (it seems to me), they haven't
thought of it!  Well, WE have, and today we'd like to share
with you The Daily Motivator.  Each day, a new inspirational

4. BE HEALTHY, LIVE LONG: the BODY-HEALTH/FITNESS/NUTRITION

Feature Article: Fitness And Health Are NOT The Same
   ----------------------------------------------------
                    by John Payne

In Issue 5, I reported the tragic death of a local runner, a
super-fit guy competing in the National Mountain Running
Championships. The sudden death of anyone is a shock to
those around them. However, the sudden death of someone who
is a fit, top-class athlete, seems to affront our common
sense. "How could that happen to THEM?" The recent event
brought to mind the death of James Fixx in the early '80's.
Fixx had become internationally known as the author of "The
Complete Book of Running", the definitive book of the
running explosion that took place in the late 1970's. Of
course, other similar events are reported prominently in the
press. A 57 year-old American Masters' athlete collapsed and
died a minute after setting a record for the 3000m run.
Sergei Grinikov, a dual Olympic Gold Medallist, collapsed
and died at training, at age 28!

The cause of the vast majority of these deaths is severe
coronary artery disease-artherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis
is the building up of fatty deposits on the artery walls.
When these break away, they block bloodflow to the heart,
causing a 'heart attack'. The start of these fatty deposits
have been detected in children as young as 3. Autopsies
carried out on US soldiers killed in Vietnam, showed that
HALF had some degree of arthersclerosis. Their average age
was 22! The modern level of heart disease is not the
natural order of things. According to US health statistics,
in 1890 the rate of death from heart attack per 100,000
of the population was 0. By 1970 it had increased to 340! In
the 1930's, it was so rare that it took a specialist to
diagnose a heart attack. That heart attacks are so common
today, is a reflection of our dietary and lifestyle choices.

A number of very important questions are raised by
this issue;

1. Does being involved in strenuous exercise cause the death
  of the athlete?
2. Does being involved in strenuous exercise shorten or
  extend life expectency?
3. What is the relationship between fitness and health?
4. What can you do to reduce the likelihood of suffering a
  heart attack?

The answer to the first question is yes, and no. The
athlete does die during the strenuous exercise. The
strenuous exercise does bring on the heart attack. However,
the exercise is not the CAUSE of the condition which kills.
The person almost certainly would have died, even if they
had not exercised.

>From the evidence, including studies by Siscovick et al in
the USA, the answer to question two is fairly clear. Those
who REGULARLY exercise, even strenuously, even with evidence
of coronary disease, live longer than those who don't.
Timothy Noakes, of the University of Capetown in South Africa,
sums it up in a local context this way.

"Studies show that in the population of about 10,000
Comrades Marathon runners there are approximately 3 sudden
deaths per year, most of which occur as predicted by the
data of Siscovick and his colleagues, during or shortly
after exercise. If, on the basis of these three deaths per
year, it was decided that marathon running was too dangerous
and was summarily and effectively banned, the annual risk of
sudden death in the group of ultra-marathoner runners would
approximately TRIPLE. Thus each year after the banning of
marathon running, there would be nine, not three, sudden
deaths; clearly an undesirable result. But by encouraging
the cohort of 10,000 marathon runners to continue running,
about six lives per year would be saved."

The relationship between health and fitness, in the context
we are discussing it, is also not straightforward. Taking
part in regular strenuous exercise WILL reduce your chance
of death from a heart attack. However, it will not remove
the CAUSE of the heart attack.
-The heart attack is caused by the fatty deposit(s) breaking
away from the artery wall, and stopping blood reaching the
heart.
-The artherosclerosis builds up over many years, and seems
to be caused by the oxidation of cholesterol carried by
LDL- low density lipoproteins.
Another interesting part of the equation, is that strenuous
exercise produces MORE oxidation within the body, using up
our supply of anti-oxidants. In this respect, heavy
exercise could actually CONTRIBUTE to the development of
artherosclerosis!

There are a number of ways to reduce your likelihood of
suffering a heart attack;

1. At the FIRST sign of any heart problem- see your doctor
2. Exercise, and keep your weight down.
3. Don't smoke.
4. Avoid stress as much as possible.
5. Limit fried foods and meats and foods with a high
  content of saturated fats.
6. Keep an eye on your blood pressure.
5. Avoid added salt- in cooking, at the table, and in
  processed foods.
7. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly
those high in calcium, potassium and magnesium.
8. Take a quality supplement of antioxidant vitamins.
Patrick Holford, of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition,
recommends at least 400mg of vitamin E, and 2 grams of
vitamin C per day. If you don't get enough fresh fruit
and vegetables, also take a good mineral supplement.
In taking this advice, please remember that using
vitamins and minerals is meant to SUPPLEMENT a good diet,
  not replace it!

                   Just Do It Now!
                   ---------------
By Robert Imbriale, Professional Business Coach

This is not the first time that you've heard this phrase! But
does it really mean anything to you or is it just another one
of those over-played slogans you hear every time you turn on
the radio or television?

For me, this phrase is nothing less than an immediate call to
action. Its a reminder that the level of success in my
business, in my relationships, or in any other area of my
life is a direct result of my ability to take action now!

Let me explain. Every morning, I wake up to a new day full of
opportunity. While that in itself is a blessing for which I
am always grateful, all the opportunities in the world will
do me absolutely no good unless I do something to take
advantage of them!

How many days have unique, outstanding opportunities come
your way and you did not take advantage of them? Are they
still there, or have many of thempassed you right on by?  Id
be willing to bet that by now, most of those opportunities
have passed you by. I know this only because so many of them
have also passed me by!

Hence the phrase, "Just Do It Now!"

Think about this for a moment. If you were to live this
phrase, just how many opportunities would you let pass you
by? Now, I doubt anybody can take advantage of every single
opportunity that comes their way, but I assure you that youd
let far less of them get away if you subscribe to this simple
call to action.

So why do so many people just not go for it? Well the answer
to that is fear. You see I find that most folks who do not
grab at the opportunities that come to them let those
opportunities pass right on by because of fear. What they
tend to occupy their minds with are useless questions like -
what would happen if it didn't work out?

If you ask that genre of question, you know you'll never take
action on anything! There is an endless stream of negative
answers to those questions and the more of those answers you
allow yourself to dwell on, the less and less likely it will
be that you will ever take action!

So by just doing it now, what are you really doing? Youre
thinking, not about what might go wrong, but what you will
gain by taking advantage of the opportunity at hand. This
thinking is what is known as "possibility thinking."

In other words, what you do is focus your attention on the
things you might gain instead of what it might cost you to
take advantage of a certain opportunity. This is very
important for you to understand because it is one of the most
prevalent reasons why most people never grab at opportunities
and may end up never succeeding!

Now this may seem trivial, but I assure you that it is at the
root of most business failures. Look at it this way, if you
were to be the type of person who did not grab at opportunity
as it passed your way, how would you ever be able to build
your business?

If every opportunity were to pass you by, but your competition
was possibility thinker and did grab at those opportunities,
can you see why it would be hard to succeed in business over
the long term?

How many times have you been approached with an opportunity
that at first glance seemed like nothing important but then
later turned out to be something of great value to you? This
is the key right here. At first glance there are many things
that will come your way that may not seem like a whole lot at
first but that can later turn out to be that one opportunity
that can change your life!

The key is to keep yourself open to grab hold of these things
as they cross your path. The more opportunities you take
action on, the higher your percentage of success.

Be flexible because the truth is that you will never really
know when the next major breakthrough opportunity will cross
your path. It may come to you as a thought, and idea, or even
as a drawing on a napkin, but it may well be the next
million-dollar idea to hit the market!

You see every major company, every best-selling product, and
every winner in any category started as nothing more than an
idea. And from those ideas, came opportunity.

Those that were open to explore opportunity found fortunes.
Those that were closed, or not open to opportunity, missed
their chance to live the life of their dreams.

Will this be you the next time an opportunity comes your way?
Or, will you be the type of person that jumps out of their
seat and totally checks out virtually every opportunity that
comes your way?

The choice is yours, but I suggest that you be the person who
jumps at every opportunity because whats true is that you
will never really know what opportunity will turn out to be
unless you take the time and expend the energy to look into
it!

If you think about what you might lose by not taking
advantage of opportunities as they  arise, you may just want
to consider my favorite little saying, "Just Do It Now!"

When you consider the alternative, just doing it now makes a
whole lot of sense!

So heres your assignment for the next 10 days. First make
the decision to take advantage of every opportunity that will
come your way, regardless of what it may or may not be.

This is critical because most of us want to immediately
decide what an opportunity may bring, and the challenge is
that we will tend to focus solely on the things that might
prevent it from working rather than the things that may well
make it work!

So dont prejudge. Decide right now that you are going to
take the time to properly look into everything that comes
your way in the next 10 days. And I do mean everything!

Remember that you are not to focus all your attention on the
potential pitfalls of the  opportunity. Look at all the ways
in which it could work, the people it will help, and the
money it will bring in!

Finally, decide whether or not it is an opportunity that you
see yourself actually getting involved in!

Now remember, this does not only apply to business
opportunities. It applies in all areas  of your life
including your relationships, your finances, your health,
and even your spirituality!

I believe that opportunities do come to us on an almost daily
basis, and since I do  subscribe to the "Just Do It Now!"
program, very few of them get away from me!  And by heeding
my own advice, Ive been able to take advantage of some very
fortuitous situations throughout my career!

And I encourage you to "Just Do It Now" too.
