Use this poem to identify and spot P names, elicit new P names, and then
brainstorm other places to live that begin with a P from your class.

Interview 6 people and ask them this question: Did you ever panic when you
couldn't find your car in a parking lot?
Describe a porcupine and then illustrate the porcupine. Fill in the blanks:

Let's have a Pez Party and find how many different characters we can present

Take a taste test using an PayDay candy bar and create a rating scale or
rubric with your class.
Use potato sticks as counters or for simple math problems: estimating,
counting, adding, sorting, patterns, subtracting, or bingo markers.
Play piano music for naptime or as background music during center time.

Assorted peppermints, Math could incorporate counting, graphing, sorting,
measuring, predicting, and comparing.

Graph your favorite potato chip. Create a scale and rate potato chips by
crunchy, salty, and tasty.
Graph how many children were born in Pennslyvania.

Let your class earn a popsicle party by giving your class a letter in
popsicle for every compliment that your class gets from other teachers,

Create class P charts and place child's name at the end of his/her sentence:
Make a list of Peanuts characters.
Find objects that are pink in color.
View or print out Picasso's work here and talk about what the children
notice and observe:

Make a collage using polka dots and pasta for an art project.
Draw a picture of a pentagon. Discuss what you notice from the pictures.
Smell perfume and see if the children can guess the scent . Try placing
dabs on cottonballs and have the children try to match the scents of
perfume.
List names that begin with P and talk about what you see or hear.
Check names in the class for p sounds. Make a graph of children that have
the P sound in their name.
Read a poem and have children color code all the p words.
Try introducing this p word: pastel Ask the children what they notice
about the word.
Whose family has the most P names?
Use these words to rhyme: pat pot pet pout pin
Tongue Twister: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Make a predictable chart: At the parade I saw ____________.
Order your students in a line from P to O.
