forward to introducing you to a multitude of activities, suggestions, and

Alphabet Animal Sound game
By Mrs. Alphabet:  Letter l

Lunge like a lion at your prey
Lunging for my lunch today!
Hear the l sound in my name
Play the l sound animal game.

By Mrs. Alphabet

Use this poem to identify and spot L names. elicit new L names, and then
brainstorm other places to live that begin with a L from your class.

Lisa, Louise, and Linda live in London with me
Larry, Lloyd, and, Louis want to visit and see.
What other L kids do you think live there
In London, England far far away from here?

Interview 6 people and ask them this question:  Did you ever swim in a lake?
Show your results.

Describe a leopard and then illustrate the leopard.  Fill in the blanks:  If
I were a leopard I would eat ____________, _______________, and
_______________.

Make a class laughing book with what makes you laugh. Have a Laugh In with
funny stories, jokes, funny laughs, etc.

Take an imaginary ride on a llama and describe what you see and then
illustrate your story.

Dance the Lindy an old fashioned jitterbug.

Use Lucky Charms cereal as counters or for simple math problems:
estimating, counting, adding, sorting, patterns, subtracting, or bingo
counters.

Estimate how far you can leap and then measure with a piece of yarn try
again a month later with a different color yarn and compare the 2 leaps.
Try a leap a month and see if your leap improves.

Licorice Math could incorporate counting, graphing, sorting, measuring,
predicting, and comparing.

Lollipops:  make a list of flavors and then check out this web site for some

Brainstorm what is love and ask children what love feels like?

Make flavored lemonade and take the lemonade taste test by blindfolding
children and having them guess the flavor.  For lemonade recipes visit:

Create class L charts and place child's name at the end of his/her sentence:

Make a list of  things you would find in a locker.

Graph lunch boxes and lunch bags by colors, shapes, and graphics

Take the lemon or lime test close your eyes or get blindfolded can you taste
the difference?

Find objects that are lilac in color.

Make a collage using lace for an art project.

Finish this sentence:  I like to be last in line because
_______________________.

Smell lifesavers and see if you can guess the flavor.  Make a lifesaver
graph.  Play some lifesaver games and have some fun here:

List names that begin with L and talk about what you see or hear.

Check names in the class for l sounds.  Make a graph of children that have
the L sound in their name.

Read a poem and have children color code all the l words.

Try introducing this l word:  lucky  Ask the children what they notice about
the word.  Make a yes or no graph: Do you believe that if you rub a rabbit's
foot that you will be lucky?

Whose family has the most L names?

Use these words to rhyme:  leg lot lick lap lung

Tongue Twister:  Lizzie Lizard licks luscious lemon lollipops.

L language experience print out or view this web site with the cutest lion
pictures you have ever seen providing great prompts for describing and
